  1. Listened to this for the first time in years. Still the best mix tape I have ever heard. Anyone else had the pleasure ? 70 Minutes Of Madness T.
  2. Look around SoHo and Old St areas. obviously depends on your taste. Check TimeOut !
  3. Try Direct Connect at http://www.neo-modus.com/. It has more than 1 petabyte of stuff - more than triple what is on Kazaa, Grokster and Morpheus combined. It's not just music though, it's movies, apps etc...
  4. No, no-one really uses the london, not really very popular. I don't know latin, just a few famous phrases. This one is a good one though, 'Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur.' or 'Whatever is said in Latin sounds profound.'
  5. interesting posts, in my opinion trying to say wether the US is 'good' or 'bad' is an impossible task. My thoughts (feel free to comment) USA is the worlds 'richest and most powerful' country (not 'best' like some people seem to think !). It's government acts in a way that ensures that it stays the richest and most powerful, like any country in the same situation would do. They justify their actions as 'defending democracy' and 'fighting global terrorism' and other such things, but the real reasons are as above. America is the most powerful country, as such I don't think ethics is really part of the equation, the famous problem - Sed quis custodiet ipsos custodes? I can't comment on the Middle East, but in Europe I do not think a large percentage of people that the US. The stereotype (in the UK at least), tends to be of 'stupid and blindly patriotic' Americans. I think this stereotype is probably about as accurate as most sterotypes tend to be (i.e. not very).
  6. interesting question! - have you read 1984? Basically my answer is no, I don't particularly like the idea of being watched. There will always be a risk of being killed by a terrorist (or car, or person etc..), whatever measures you enforce. One interesting point, is that would extra surveilance decrease the chance of terrorist action succeeding? Or would it cause people to rely on such safety measures, making the chance of success increase. I'm actually thinking about an analogy with car safety. It is often said that one of the best ways to improve car safety would be to put a big spike coming out of the steering wheel (would you still speed?!), modern safety measures give the driver a false sense of security, and thus they are more reckless. what do you reckon?
  7. purlease !! you are really showing your ignorance !! Muslims are in general very nice people. A small percentage of fanatics cause these problems. No religion or country has a monoply of fanatics. Do not forget that Hitler's Nazi's were predominently Christian. As for conflicts not involving Muslims, well the conflicts in South Africa and Ireland are two of many.
  8. As Mahatma Gandhi famously remarked when asked his opinion of western civilisation, it would be a good idea. Since George Bush's father inaugurated his new world order a decade ago, the US bestrides the world like a colossus. Unconstrained by any superpower rival or system of global governance, the US giant has rewritten the global financial and trading system in its own interest; ripped up a string of treaties it finds inconvenient; sent troops to every corner of the globe; bombed Afghanistan, Sudan, Yugoslavia and Iraq without troubling the United Nations; maintained a string of murderous embargos against recalcitrant regimes; and recklessly thrown its weight behind Israel's 34-year illegal military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza as the Palestinian intifada rages.
  9. Time Out magazine has good listings of clubs. Check it out.
  10. Honestly, I tried to warn you Germany attacked more than I thought which allow England to counter-attack. With the pace of Owen and Heskey up front, with quality players like Beckham and Gerrard (told u he was good!) feeding them, England are a potent force on the counter-attack. I think Germany played into our hands by playing in such a way. England were lucky in that they had one of those days where nearly every chance went in. Germany will still qualify anyway so its not such a big deal. Albania and Greece will be totally different as they will attack much less, so it will be interesting how we perform in those games. And no, England are not group winners till they beat both those teams, and as they say, there are *no* easy international games.
  11. correct me if my info is wrong but, your best player (Effenburg) spat his dummy out and said "i'm not playing any more" your most creative player (Scholl) is injured. Ziege is not the player he was (I mean come on he plays for Spurs!) Your team is quite old, whereas ours is very young Youth vs. Experience - we shall see !! If he plays, look out for a player called Gerard, I think he is really good.
  12. hey a persons passion for a sport causes others pain, you KNOW they're taking it too far. It is not just English though, if anything the turks are worse, the dutch, germans and italians are also bad. It seems to me the people who cause this trouble are deeply xenaphobic which is mainly due to a lack of education. There has always been violence in football though (even in the 60's), it's just more publicised now) Anyway my prediction is England 3 - Germany 0 with 2 goals for Owen and a Beckham free kick past Kahn who will be weighed down by the weight of his mullet. ehehehehhehe
  13. lukey, it is just a song, it's not supposed to be seroius, the idea being that England have beat Germany in one World Cup final, whereas Germany have never beaten England in World Cup final. If you think it took the whole world to beat Germany in the world wars then you need to resit history. Anyway I don't want to get dragged into the whole world war, it really was supposed to be light hearted so just chill, ok? The hooligan stuff is just a minute percentage of fans, which is unfortunate side effect of the fact that English football fans are very passionate about the game (yes hooligans are too passionate), still on the bright side going to watch football in England (or in fact anywhere in Europe I've been) is a really exciting experience. I went to see a basketball match in NY. There was no atmosphere! The only time anyone cheered or did anything was when the TV camera was on them. Kinda fake and superficial if you ask me, but then again American society seems to lean that way.
