  1. fuck yeah, i gotta get to sleep now so i can wake up before tonight.
  2. Welcome to the board. . . Where you go really depends on what you're lookin for. I'm thinkin about goin to either Centro-Fly or Arc tomorrow. GBH has a hot list of DJs for friday and Centro is one of 'the' places to be as far as clubs go nowadays. Arc just seems like an all round cool place, with a little more laid back atmosphere. Not laid back as in more chill, just not as up on it than other places. Where have you been previously if anywhere? And wherever you go i hope you have fun.
  3. from my experience, chances are, if a movie looks like something that no one is going to see, its probably gonna be good. And if, well, i'll just say "Armageddon" to show the other side of the story.
  4. I might be building some ported nearfeild studio monitors soon. If and when i do, i'll let you know how they turn out and see if i can help you.
  5. Do you guys know what the Caberet Laws say? from my minimal research on the law, this is what i found (an obsurdly vague law which can be used as an excuse shut down any bar they want): ( i may be paraphrasing slightly but. . .) Anything which can be interpreted as a "rhythmic movement to music" is a violation of the caberet laws. That means technically Sitting at a bar boppin your head is a violation. That means a musician tapping his foot on stage to stay in time with the rest of the band is moving rhythmically to the music and is hence ILLEGAL. IMHO, this law is so rediculously open just to use to target bars because Tapping your hands, air guitar, rocking back and forth while singing along, flashy bartending, and clapping could feasibly be missconstrued as "rhythmic movement to music". I'm sure other things could be misconstrued too . . . I know somewhere there is a movement to Legalize Dance in NYC, but i dont know or remember who is in charge of that. If anyone know about it please fill me in.
  6. I never liked the music at the tunnel. I couldnt figure out why my friends liked going there so much. They always told me about all these secret rooms and i wondered where they were. Then i realized that i was too fucked up to ever move when i was there. Funny thing was, after poppin 4 pills, i was the most coherent of all my friends who would only pop 1 or 1 1/2 max. Those were the days.
  7. Dont animals just decompose eventually? Or you can do what i did once. . . I found a dead possum in the middle of the road. And it was fresh too, wasnt even riggamortis yet. Then I found a car backed into its parking spot in the parking lot. By some chance of fate there was a Meat Is Murder sticker on the back of the car. So i took a lenght of rope tied it from the bumper to the possum, and hid it under the car. I was shittin a brick when i saw the possum with rope still around it half a mile away. I could just imagine what the people on the street thought as they saw a car driving by dragging a dead possum behind it a la National Lampoons.
  8. I actually did DMT 5 years ago when i went to RIT. I got it from Buffalo and man do i hate those 2 cities. I used to party in the city, but as the semesters go on, the money dwindels and once again, kids at purchase are lame, and would rather spend their last dollars sitting around burnin a 20 bag than going out and having fun. Sometimes when i'm home i'll go out to a bar by myself, but that gets tiresome after a while. I've been "out of the loop" for too long so to speak. I dont even know which djs are around any more and which ones are playin the shit i like . . . .man i hate my school. And spring break is sucking too. . . i should be out partying like i wanna be, but i have to work to get money to pay off these fucking tickets i got in Jersey. Fuck Jersey. And on top of all that, my job hasnt needed me so i had to walk the past 3 nights, so no money. And anyone i know around here isnt on spring break, so my sleep scheduel of go to bed @ 8 am and wake up @ 4:30 pm dont work for anyone else. Ah man, what a rant just ignore me
  9. that game kinda reminds me of Demon Tag, a game i made up. There are sever sets of rules, but the main jist of it is The person or team who is "It" gets torches and has to Tag everyone else with the torches to win. There are different versions of the game, but you get the picture. I cant seem to find anyone who wants to play that with me yet . . .
  10. >suny purchase is fucken lame... i took classes there, bunch of >pansy ass frootcake crakaz. I know, thats why i want this to be the end all of Purchase parties. All the kids here get pissed off when people try to have a good time cuz we're not being "super intellectually hipsters complaining about why the world has done us wrong and wishing that we can be supercritical of everything and everyone without actually having credibility in a word of what we say." this shit is straight out of PCU, and since i cant get PFunk to play my party, then i need some way to get these people to stop being so anal retentive. AHHHHHHHH
  11. I get what you're sayin. I agree partially to, and I understand the similar mechanics. . . it may be enjoyable for other people to go watch djs DJ, but as for me, eh .. . . .Besides the fact that most of the time you cant see what the DJ is actually doing. . .You just kinda see him/her looking at the tables and occasionally turning around to get something or waving at the audience. It makes perfect sense for the clubs to sell tix, but i still dont like it for my own personal reasons (as mentioned before). Besides, most of the bigass shows that you need tix for i really dont want to go to anyway because if a DJ has gotten to that point in his popularity, you're gonna have to deal with a really really annoying crowd, and way too many people to the point where you cant dance, and my shorter friends get angry for just being able to see peoples shoulders and arms and not being able to breath. I'm sure not everyone minds these things, but i do ;and thats my peace. I remember way back when PVD would be @ Twilo and it would be just like that. Wasnt fun.
  12. Buying tickets for a club is assinine. What am i going to a concert? When i go to a concert, i usualy go to see a band perform. When i go to a club, i go there to have a good time. The DJ is just there to help me have a good time. I'm not there to "See" that dj play records. Granted i know the difference between a good and bad DJ and a DJ that plays the shit i like and not, but still, Tix are like : "Ok, I am going to see this DJ at this Venue and i have to know this X amount of time prior to the event, and so do all my friends who might want to go. No last minute additions or subtractions from our group. . . ." Just bad form if you ask me.
  13. Hmmm, Jello. . . .jello pit, jello shots. . . . . . ..Bikini Jello shot pit? I think you might just be onto something
  14. Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had any sick ideas for party themes/gimmicks for the next party i throw at my college apartment? I was thinking of having one of those Bubble Foam parties that Wild On E! seems to think is the greatest thing. For a campus apartment i think that would be pretty sick, but then i thought about trying to clean all the suds off the carpet and the suds and water on all our shit (ie: our bar, stereo, speakers, etc.) So that a great bad idea  Bassically i wanna do something that SUNY Purchase has never seen before. We already had the first in apartment Bar on campus (as far back as Purchase folklore goes), now that there are other bars on campus, its time for the nicesest looking bar to go the next level. Any Ideas????? www.geocities.com/hhlpe
  15. its been a long time since i've been on.. . I was just wonderin if anyone has been to Shelter on Saturdays for the Tsunami party? Hows the crowd? the Door with ID's? (would my girl get in with a good fake?) And is the psytrance usually on the $ or off the mark?
  16. Cycles. . .everything goes in cycles kinda like a sine wave ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma. Whether it be good or bad, it is my duty to bring it uppon you. No thanks needed, I actually enjoy my job.
  17. Hey, after PVD i asked this question but i never got an actual reply. Does anyone know if Luis Diaz spins anywhere other than PVD night at twilo? Preferably in NYC but i'll got Philly or Boston to see him. I'd even consider going to Jersey (gasp) to see him, especially if he's the main DJ for the night. If nobody knows, then maybe you know where i can go find out for myself? Thanks in advance ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma. 18. yeah, if you like vocals, i'd say SF would be a good choice even though i hate it. . .everyone who likes that place LOVES it. and everyone who doesnt like that place seems to HATE it. . ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. 19. They really shouldnt let me buy alcohol. I turn 21 on Friday. Well, actually i'm 20 going on 7. Coolest shit is this weekend is CultureShock at my school. Which mean the Police here (At SUNY Purchase we have State Troopers cuz its a state school) dont care about Alcohol and drugs. Open Container laws dont matter for this weekend. And there are some great people playing. . De La Soul is gonna be here i think, mad other people too. . . Razel played last year. You should all try to sneak onto campus that day. For more info PM me or something. ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma. Whether it be good or bad, it is my duty to bring it uppon you. 20. You know what. . . i actually hope some crazy shit starts up again. . .to me, most recent rap sucks, for the mere fact that they have nothing to say anymore. If i see one more fucking rap video about being a rich gangst"a" with half necked "bitches" and nice cars in the ghetto...boring. I remeber shit Like TuPac's Hit em Up. Razell's answer to LL. Now those songs were some intense shit, they had something to say. Snoop & Dre gave incredible introspective songs which would place you inside the mind of a drug dealer or a killer. Now theres no competition. Its all "Look at me, i'm so cool, i got cash and i got hos." I think Beck's "Hollywood Freaks" would be a good critique of what rap has become. Maybe with Suge back, some crazy shit will start happening. . . also, with the slowing of the economy we are gonna get a resurgence of real quality music. But thats another topic all together, and i'll only get into it if someone asks ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma. 21. I'm not saying Sound Factory sucks. . . i'm just saying that i really dont like sound factory (and i'm being nice about saying that)But as you see some people love it. it really does depend on what you like, and if you dont tell us what music you prefer, we really cant tell you anywhere to go other than our own favorite club. ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma. Whether it be good or bad, it is my duty to bring it uppon you. No thanks needed, I actually enjoy my job.
  22. in response to loch: Yeah, i knew it was gonna be crowded. I'm just complaining more for my own bad than about the party. I knew it was gonna be crowded, and i wasnt gonna go for just that reason cuz i have no problem driving somewhere else to see him spin. I think its worth it. Granted i dont get phazon (oh how i'll miss phazon sounds) but i think i can really do without the crowd. And i would have been there till the end but my girlfriend had to go to work in the morning and i was supposed to go snowboarding in vermont and needed some rest. unfortunately i didnt go cuz shit got fucked up and whatnot, but i hope missing out on the phazon wont make me not enjoy the show cuz a shitty soundsystem can really ruin a good time for me. . call me picky or whatever. . .damn i go off on too many tangents. ok, i'll stop babling right now. I must attend to my fridge full of Michelobe and Meister Brau. If anyone wants to take a roadtrip up to toronto over the summer (i dont remember if plays then or what but we can find out.), thats what i'll probably be doing. NYC can take over Canadia! God damn canadish people, only good for bacon and clean cities and hockey, eh? Yeah, we'll show them how to party. . damn, another one of those tangents again. i'm cutting myself off 2 paragraphs too late ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma. Whether it be good or bad, it is my duty to bring it uppon you. No thanks needed, I actually enjoy my job.
  23. well, i for one was very dissapointed. . .not really for the music or anything. . . i just cant stand the crowd. theres nothing more irritating that music that makes me dance, and having no room to even bop up and down. (its time for me to rant) My first complaint was obviously the crowd. Not only was there too much of it, i couldnt beleive who i was seeing in there. I dont want to make any definite line on who to and not to let in, but c'mon. There were kids in there with old converse, faded untapered jeans, band shirts and hats. now seperately or properly worn some of these things are alright. But i felt like i was at some dirty rock club. I'm especially surprised cuz in the past i've had friends turned away cuz they were fashionably dead. And even then, why would anyone in their right mind go to a club looking like that? At least make an attempt. Play the part or something. Dress up, dress club, dress rave, god damn, even dress candy for all i care. but at least make it look like you're going to a club and not out on the street corner. Not only was it too f'n crowded for my own good, there were certain people who just shouldnt be allowed to dance. (okok, we've discussed this, but hear me out) When i dance i'm everywhere, my elboes and arms and legs and everything is goin. but when its crowded i dont fly everywhere. the more crowded it gets the less i do, a little respect, ya know. But there were these kids who neglected the fact that there were tons of people around and had nowhere or way to move. There was this one kid who thought dancing was to shove his shoulder forward into my back, repeatedly, over and over. And his feet didnt move. i thought going behind him might help, but i just got the other side of him hittin me when he was coming back from leaning forward. Then there was the girl with hair down to her ass who felt the need to swing it out as far as she could while she was dancing. Then there was the kid who just kinda shifted weight back and forth on his feet which wouldnt have been so bad except for the fact that every time his weight shifted he moved another inch backwards without even realizing it. No matter where i went these people found me. I asked this kid if his group of friends wanted to dance with my group of friends so that the 6 of us could maybe take up more room as one instead of separately. That worked for about 1/2 a song and then we got split up by 3 congo lines going 3 different direction right in the middle of the dance floor. Othere than the croud i really didnt have much to complain about. . but PVD is money to twilo so they;re not gonna not let people in. But whatever. I think i'm gonna pass next time he plays here. I am however gonna go up to toronto to see him next time. He plays the same set and i'm always up for a roadtrip. Crazy shit alllllllways happens when i have to do anything. the further away anthying is the crazier shit gets. and i was wondering if luis diaz plays anywhere else as the main DJ? cuz i would love to hear what he does on his own, since he obviously cant play as good as PVD at twilo for obvious reasons. I would love to see him where he doesnt have to hold back to let another DJ finish off the croud. Thats all for now. Sorry to chew you guys ears off. ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma. Whether it be good or bad, it is my duty to bring it uppon you. No thanks needed, I actually enjoy my job.
  24. I've been on an 80's pop & cheese music kick for some time now (it took a lot of talent to suck as bad as the 80s did) and my girlfriend wants me to take her to Culture Club, but the info on clubplanet dont say what age it is to get in. So if you would, please inform me so that i can go waste some money getting into a club that plays songs i probably already have on MP3. TY ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. 25. manmade: Sorry, i have no idea where to find DMT, last time i did it was 2 years ago. But what a 2 years ago it was I was gonna look around for it anyway ot of curiosity so if i find anything i'll let you know. Otherwise i just kept the name cuz its the name i use for everything and its double meaning (The Emty God-which is what most people think the meaning of the name is. Its the select few who figure it out who get the smile and nod of appreciation) ------------------ I am Karma's henchman. A prophet if you will. We all deserve some kind of Karma.
