In October 2001 he won the coveted first place in the cooljunkie.com DJ competition thus securing a spot for playing at the well-known Club Space in Miami Beach as well as a spot with the Miami Beach DJ agency Deck Junkies. His great talent for reading the crowd has led him to develop a uniquely diverse personal style, mixing different styles and genres, incorporating Deep Trance, Progressive House, Tech House, Tribal Trance and some Trance Breaks. Kurits has recently earned a residency at Proton Radio, and is name to look out for in NYC. With his popularity on the rise Kurtis Patrick is looking towards improving his production skills and doing what he loves best, transporting music & soul.   11. HomeGrown Tuesday, September 17th at Leopard Lounge Homegrown is a weekly party for DJs by DJs: a weekly showcase of NYC¹s up-and-coming local DJ talent. Every Tuesday night from 8 till 2, you will be seeing 6 DJs dropping tasty beats from every genre. This party is free and its sole purpose is to support the scene in NYC. No attitudes, no discrimination based on experience, just fresh beats from fresh DJs. We will be accepting demos from DJs at this event as well as taking contact information in order to work out a possible schedule. Every week all the DJs sets are recorded and then broadcasted on the web at www.metromixradio.com. **Special Guest Alert** Rich Luvv & Matt Hamburg: Two DJ/Producers on the rise in NYC. Both have been djing for about 6 years and they have been partners for the past 2 years. There style can be described as Deep Tribal, with some Tech elements. They were taken under the wing of Urban Promotions 2 years ago to become their resident djs. Rich and Matt have spun at numerous venues across Long Island and NYC and held residencies at Cream, Abaya, Jade Terrace and Groovejet, including many opening spots at Centro-Fly Thursdays. Recently at Centro-Fly they have opened for Mike Macaluso and Peter Bailey, Tedd Patterson and Seb Fontaine (this upcoming Thursday 9/19). They have been receiving amazing reviews and are looked at to be two of the biggest rising stars in NYC while recently they¹ve started Found Sound Productions out of Long Island, and are looking to make a big impact on the international dance scene soon! Homegrown - A Party for NYC DJ Talent Tuesday, September 10th at Leopard Lounge Join us for a night of Drum & Bass, Techno and House. **Special Guest Alert** Anthony Velarde: Influenced by legends such as Carl Cox and Max Graham, Velarde has been part of the New York Club scene since 1988. Already passionate about dance music, by learning to mix he took his obsession to a new level. Performing at seminal venues such as Limelight, EXIT, Webster Hall, Chaos and many others, Velarde has successfully fused his varied musical influences into a unique and wholly self-expressive sound landing him gigs around the globe. His sets vary wildly from night to night, but the one constant is his unfettered ability to take his listeners on a spontaneous musical journey. Tribal house melts into Trance, Trance fades into Techno, and the blend continues, eventually merging to form a complete musical circle. Expect the unexpected when Anthony Velarde is behind the decks.
