  1. D:Fuse was banging when I saw him in LA last week.

    D:Fuse

Yo. I saw D:Fuse at Giant in LA on Friday and he was f*cking unreal. Absolutely incredible. Actually, BT at Coachella on Sunday topped him. Or S+D at Coachella on Saturday. Or Groove Armada (dj set) at Coachella on Saturday. Or was it Tiesto. Who topped it all? Hmmm? spoiled rotten, judson
  3. while vinyl will always be the foundation of the culture, the utility of CDs and MP3s cannot be beat. if you want to drop the latest song tonight, odds are it's going to be on CD. also, a lot of turntablist effects can be performed on the CDJs. out, judson
  4. Can someone ID the track that was dropped just after Sharam spoke? It was banging and had a little bit of funk in it. out, judson
  5. tilt feat. nayler - headstrong (vocal) jam & spoon - be.angled (van dyk) olive - you're not alone (atb 2002) quasistereo feat. ACL - addictions out, judson
  6. the best one, by far, is mp3 splitter (http://www.codevisions.de/mp3splitter/readme.html). also check out software downloads on cnet.
  7. i'm glad you got caught.

    morel

    morel

i'm planning on going to yoshitoshi tonight to get morel's queen of the highway. the cabaret encore at the end of gu21 disc 1 is enough for me to buy it. out, judson
  10. solo. too often friends, acquaintainces, etc. want to talk on the dance floor and ruin my experience with the music. that's what the sidelines are for. you can talk there. out, judson
  11. i would have to disagree. while sinestro was good, i thought the acquaviva set was poor. i was really disappointed. the set lacked a rhythm, a story. i acknowledge that i am really picky and demanding. nevertheless, i had a fantastic time hanging out with my buds and chatting it up with some other people. out, judson
  12. it seems to me that the technology is really empowering as it permits novices to explore creatively with music while not making a large capital investment. with the computer you already have, the internet connection you already have, the time you already have, and the purchase of mixing software, a novice can feel the exhiliration of djing for less than $100. that's an amazing thing. the technology opens up the music community, expands the dialogue, and brings more people to appreciate what others do. i think it's really an amazing thing and i wonder why there is a rush to classify. certainly those that use vinyl and turntables have talent and skill, but those that use technology also have talent and skill. i guess you can't rush to assume that someone who uses technology is skilled, instead observing what they do and the source of the creativity. just a thought. out, judson
  13. Get ready for the club night of your lives. I saw dd in DC two weeks ago. I danced so hard that i bruised by heels. They are, far and away, the best live djs I've ever seen. While some djs spin great songs, dd always takes you on a trip, always tells a story. out, judson
  14. To all who advised me re: NYC clubbing, much thanks. We had a fantastic time at Vinyl on Friday. What a fantastic time. DT trainwrecked a couple of times, but it was all good. 1 question though: is the hoochie look back? The Vinyl crowd was 80% boys and 18% hoochie B&T girls. very odd. Saturday night we went to the Roxy, which was ok. Peter Rauhaufer is a horrible dj, though. After the Roxy we went to Exit for Junior. It's taken me about 10 times to learn this, but he is a horrible dj. Very boring style. The club was fun, though. All in all, we had a great time, but I definitely learned something about buzz/Velvet/Nation. The DC scene smacks the shit out of NYC. Maybe it's because I hit Nation every weekend and it's my hometown, but the Nation space is incredible, the sound is good (both Vinyl and the Roxy were too loud and the speakers were definitely unhappy), and the people are generally really nice. Also, I feel like you definitely have to bring the fun with you to a NYC club. While at Nation, you can bring yourself and meet some really nice people. The communities at buzz and Velvet are really incredible. It's a unique scene and moment. out, judson
  15. if you get them from yoshitoshi, you also pay a reduced service charge.
  16. keep clicking through the ultraworld site and you will see the changes announced.
  17. I don't know if you've seen this, but Ultraworld: Rocket has changed drastically. What's everyone gonna do? 1. Armand van Helden canceled 2. They have moved the venue from the Armory 3. To the Edge 4. It now runs from 9PM-6AM 5. It's still 25/35/40 dollars I'm just not sure if it's worth the changes to see Scott Henry. thoughts? out, judson
  18. Kids, thanks for all of the NYC clubbing help. You've been 100x times more informative and nice than the NYC board. What time does Vinyl start picking up and what time does it shut down? I think we've finally set up an agenda and I'm freakin psyched. My friends are going up today and tonight, while I clock more hours and fly up tomorrow night. Friday night we are headed to my old neighborhood bar in Park Slope, Timboos, until 1 or 2 and then the group will splinter with the rowdy moving on to Vinyl. Saturday night we eating at my favorite Chinese restaurant, the Cottage (77th + Amsterdam) which as fantastic food, all you care to drink white wine (franzia!), and it works out to about $10/head. I think we may go to the Roxy for Rauhaufer (sp) or, if I can convince the crew, back to Vinyl for Pappa-Tomiie. I decided to hold off on Exit, since I can see Jules at buzz (or Ibiza) sometime in the future. out, judson
  19. Hello there. Thanks to all for the NYC clubbing recommendations for this weekend. I've got one more: how mixed are Exit and Vinyl? I enjoy mixed clubs a la Twilo and Buzz, but the Webster Hall crowd sort of makes me vomit (on their kahkis). Some of my crew are especially concerned about forking out $25+ bucks for a straight scene. I'm trying to reassure and convince them that they have to see Jules and Tomiie. Your input is greatly appreciated.

  21. hey dc kids. i posted this on the nyc board, but i thought you might have some thoughts too. i'm going to nyc with a pack of friends this weekend and i'm looking for clubbing recommendations. i'm particuarly interested in a mixed crowd and fantastic music. at this point, vinyl with pappa and tomiie appears to be at the top of the list. it's been a few years since i lived in nyc, so i'd love some background on the clubs and the vibe. particularly vinyl, earth, and exit.

  24. Another Aussie colloquialism is "fanny," which means something akin to c*nt (vulgarity and all). Puts a whole new spin on "sit on your fanny." I am so excited about Radiate. About DD. About getting the hell out of work.
