  1. D'Jais closed; Owner takes offense Bar closing causes protest in Belmar community Fiday, April 29, 2004 BY Haywood Jablome Star-Ledger Staff Frank D'Allagio said he's always supported Belmar Mayor Haire Balls. A few months ago, he even put Balls re-election signs in the windows of his bar on in Belmar. But after Balls staged a news conference outside the D'Jais Bar yesterday, the tavern owner said he won't be supporting the mayor anymore. D'Allagio was outraged that Balls, who also is an assemblyman, chose to shut down D'Jais indefinitely. According to Balls the shut down would help residents who complain D'Jais had become neighborhood nuisance. "This is about quality of life for our residents," Balls railed, contending he's a just fighting for the people of Belmar. "The days of young people vomiting on lawns, having intercourse in bushes and urinating on cars are over." As a result of the shut down D'Jais will be closed for 90 days starting Friday until an appeals board can hear the case sometime in mid July. According to D'Allagio he stands to lose over one million dollars in revenue that would be generated during the lucrative summer rental season. "To not be able to open until mid July is an outrage. People get shore houses down in Belmar just to come to my establishment on Friday and Saturday nights, now what?" a perplexed D'Allagio asked. The mayor charges though that bars like D'Jais "are not working to improve the quality of life." At least a dozen D'Jais supporters attended yesterday's news conference, carrying signs protesting the closing and asking Balls to drop his case before the state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The mayor said the bar and a handful of others in the city "don't believe the law applies to them." Ben Dover, who lives down the street from D'Jais, said "every weekend I don't get any sleep" because of the loud music coming from the D'Jais, customers screaming and fighting and some even urinating on the lawns of neighbors. "I'm not saying you can't make a living -- but control your customers," said Dover who has lived in Belmar for 38 years. Another neighbor, Phat Ho, said he was encouraged by the legislation being sponsored by the mayor but believes D'Jais should have the right to an appeal sooner than mid July. "While me no satisfied with the noise and problems caused by a D'Jais, me know if this a happened to my restaurant (Fu King Chinese Food located two blocks from Paul's Tavern) I be a mighty pissed off," Ho stated angrily. Last summer the Belmar City Council, acting as the local ABC board, issued a 100-day suspension against D'Jais license after finding that the bar violated local noise ordinances but D'Allagio was able to have the suspension lifted with some crafty legal manuevers. D'Allagio said that the shut down for 90 days, he would have to close the business entirely. The owner said he would consent to a 40-day suspension, but the offer was rejected by the city. As a last ditch effort the owner has appealed to the State Supreme Court in the hopes that the bar can open officially on Memorial Day. In any event, this weekends annual Opening Party has been cancelled. "I run a clean business. I have security at the door," said D'Allagio, who added he lives in the apartment by the bar.
  2. Serg, its tentative. Is this really the only weekend that they will be exchanging VIPs?
  3. If you have gone to it I would like to hear your thoughts about going to it. Recommend it? Pluses? Minuses? Things you would do again? Not do again? etc..... Thanks.
  4. Just a heads-up to anyone planning a trip....dont bother staying at Mandalay. If you plan on partying and do not like to be rushed to be in LINE by 8:30 to get a spot at the pool, this place is not for you. Yes, it was a bit tough before, but now with the addition of THE HOTEL, 1100+ (really nice suites I must admit), room by the pool is like prime real estate in California....tough to come by and expensive as hell. They basically added more chairs (great lets put 5 people in 2 sq feet of room), but there is nothing that they could do to accommodate the increase in people. That is my only complaint about the place....the suites are awesome......a bit pricey....but pool time is huge. Carry on....
  5. Exactly. I am a tourist, I dont live there, its worth every penny. I do agree that only in the venues that you plan on staying all night for though....LIGHT is probably the only place that I will get a table at next time I go, maybe TABU too. LIGHT table = chic magnet too. No need to do anything.
  6. I'm printing this.....please wear a name tag to ID yourself!!
  7. Thank you for clarifying...you are correct. Big Difference. Much better...lol. Ephedrin still pumping thru the veins screwing with the vision, know what a mean? I'll be there 4 one of them. Will fill u in about Vegas. Pimp-n-Ho is coming up by the way.................
  8. Thank you for the mailing. Its appreciated. Always taking care of your patrons, top notch, always!!!!! You the man.
  9. A little disappointed that Louie Devito is going to be there 2 weeks in a row (5/8-5/15). I would rather have Teo the whole time. Cant make it this week but I will be popping up in the C-Bar in May for VIP exchange nevertheless.
  10. ICE was the best music in town. Good job Farina. If you are going to go to Mandalay, just know that your ass has to be in line for that pool by 8:30 (yes, line!) or your out of luck..this is regardless of the fact of whether you are trying to get into the Morea pool (separate topless "european" pool $30+ per day) or the regular one. Everyone of them would be packed by 9:30, if not earlier. The bathrooms at "The hotel" (the recently built "all suites" part of the hotel) is EVEN BIGGER. The suites were AWESOME. 50 inch plasma tv, flat tv in the bathroom, one in the room. Awesome living room. Really nice..but your paying for it. LIGHT at the Bellagio is the best nite in vegassss. Hands-down. Love RAIN's VIP. In regards to hookers.....I didnt pay anything because I dont need hookers to fuck ....not to say that some of the boys didnt. Just not my style...very concerned with disease to gamble on that. Never been at MGM but I think I'm going to try the PALMS next. VEGAASSSSSSS rules......Reality sucks. lol
  11. hype.....september.......u in?
  12. And the answer is......Tables......very much worth it. I love vegas!!
  13. Unbelievably SICK time. The music still leaves a lot to be desired of out there, but there are SOOOO many many other things that will help you forget that. Ridiculously great time....RAIN - LIGHT - DRAIS - ICE - TABU - THE HORSE - RHINO - TREASURES. One minus.....Mandalay Bay......they added 'THE Hotel'.....1100+ suites but failed to make more room by the pool. Way too packed. Keep this in mind if you contemplate the place. I would steer towards the Palms or Hard Rock. A shout-out to my gracious host - Chris (as promised). You are the mayor of that f'en place. Good luck on your Ultimate fighting bout....at 320.......I'm sure you will have no problems. I love vegassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Done!!
  14. Great time as always!!! Great seeing a lot of familiar faces!! Good music!! Thanks jar, binoys, serg, everyone!!

  20. Awesome time last week......might have to come out for this one 2. Last week felt like it used to be all the time. Always a great time at the best Friday nite spot in NJ.
  21. Getting back to the topic..... No offence but its about time JP paid the proper respects to the NJ crowd and played here....considering we represent a HUGE chunk of his following. Yes, he has bills to pay......yes, I'm sure it took just the right combo of money, etc to get him to MERGE....and regardless I'm PSYCHED for it.......but again.... ABOUT TIME. (Good job Merge crew!!) How many $40+ covers has the NJ crowd paid to support him at SF over the years? He owes us....and he better unleash it like he means it . Make this one just for the NJ crowd!! I have not been to BLACK, and I wont (just me)....but I miss the music....bad......so I'll be ready for this. Still curious as to whether there are any concerns about the town? Lets go JJOOOHHHNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! PS: No FOCKING UP THE NIGHT WITH PEOPLE G'ing out EITHER!! T-Minus...........cant wait.............time to make it like it used to be.
