July3rd - IndepenDANCE Day@ Big Wig. Nosmo, Angelist, Chris Gin On May 22nd we had our 1 year anniversary with our four residents playing and we bring three back for an encore on July 3rd, one of the busiest club days of the year. We had over 400 people last year and we expect another stellar crowd as these three djs absolutely shined last time. Nosmo is in the middle of his Grayarea tour and makes an appearance for us before heading off for the second half. He just returned from playing all the Spundaes out west and throwing huge shows all over. Catch one of the best progressive djs/producers in the country playing with us. Traxx, Gin and Milo - for House Candy Wow! Huge thanks to everyone who came last week for Pulz-8's LIVE PA. The vibe inside Big Wig was awesome! This week, we bring legendary dj, Traxx, to put on a show for us. Traxx has firmly etched his name into the house history of Chicago having played for almost 20 years on the scene. He has played all over the globe and is well-respected by all. He also founded the Soul Foundation Kollective and belongs to International Deejay Gigolo. DEVO Disc Jockey Devo got his start in the Chicago nightlife in 1992, as an 18-year-old freshman punter at the nightclub Kaboom. From then on he was hooked on Chicago's underground pulse. In the past ten years, he has lived in the UK and the New York City area - chasing beats, clubs, and records - throwing parties, and DJing whenever possible. In 1999, he settled in Chicago to pursue his DJ career intensively and finish a master's degree in English/literature. Since then, he has spun his hybrid of percussive prog-house beats and breaks all over the city - from major clubs such as Crobar, Rednofive, and Smartbar to stacked loft parties for Chthonic and Dharmony. His long-running residency was at Rednofive/Fifth Floor on Fridays, spinning for both Soma and Material. He has also been an editor for the dance-music magazine Thousand Words and a progressive-house associate at Gramaphone Records. His versatile sound lands smack in the middle of house and deep progressive - earning him the chance to play alongside housers such as Colette and Derrick Carter, to progressives John Creamer and Dave Seaman. Alright, finally a set of awards choosen by the fans and not some newspaper! Welcome to the First Annual Localsound Chicago Club Awards for the Nightclub Industry! Created with Chicago Clubbing Industry in mind, The Localsound Chicago Club Awards (CCAs) bring recognition to individuals and companies who drive the nightclub industry in Chicago. The award winners are chosen strictly by people's choice over a two month nomination and finalist voting period. What The CCAs set out to create is a high profile and prestigious award and rankings for the recognition of outstanding Chicago entertainmenters. The competition is open to all entertainers who fit in the following voting award categories: Best Male Dj Best Female Dj Best New Dj Best Club Best Promoter/Host Best Bar/Club Staff Best VIP Best Industry Website Best Publication Best Club Event of 2002 It gives the opportunity for anyone in the industry to compete against much larger and more well known entertainers and clubs. Nominees eligible for consideration must have been localized or situated in Chicago or the near-surrounding areas prior to the January 7th nomination deadline. Because of the nature of this competition, participants are encouraged to enter only those people/clubs that represent true excellence in the Chicago nightclub industry . We will be selecting a series of random voters to receive cash prizes tbd determined over the course of the contest. Entries may be submitted by the Internet at our Web site Localsound The nomination period will run from December 20, 2002 thru January 15, 2003. Twenty Finalists in each category will be chosen and final voting on each category will run from January 20, 2003 through midnight February 15th, 2003. Nominations received after the deadline of January 15th will not be eligible for the 2002 competition. Award results will be announced by website and email in the first week of March of the year 2003! An awards bash and club night will be staged in the event of at least 10,000 nominations.
