Downtown Standard. Wow. A recent renovation to the lobby. Fire Pit outside, concrete sunken patio. Very very nice. Lobby - new floor to ceiling timesquare-esh scrolling marque column. And gotta luv playing pool in the standard lol. Great great preparty spot. Across the street - new Daily Grill. Very large, very nice decore.

I almost choked when you said 1 1/2 from san diego to la lol. Irvine (OC) to LA no traffic (late at night) hitting it : 40 minutes. Ive had friends in traffic from Laguna come to LA - several hours they told me. San Diego to LA NO traffic - 2 1/2 - 3 hours I believe. LA to Vegas major traffic : damn ... can be eternity. 5-12 hours. LA to Vegas (100 mph+) no traffic: 3 - 3 1/2 hours. oh, and book through the hotel. You can always cancel 48 hours in advance by phone (at min).

Can we sticky this. Where'd the old one go. CABANA CLUB Former spot of the Sunset Room's PARKING LOT lol (only in LA a parking lot is turned into a lagoon lol). First of all, its not a pool. It's a pond. And the waterfalls, we'll the water aint falling very far lol. But the place is awesome. Cabanas in the Viceroy style, even a mega cabana, provides awesome cover. Drinks - um (gulp) $45 for a carafe of margaritas (yup). Food - reasonably priced and looked and smelled awesome. Sound - great, can be a bit too loud. Staff - super nice. Decore - who the hell designed the bar - its as basic and boring as can be. Color scheme - good. The blue railings dont fit the cabana look the rest of the place has. Landscaping - palm trees. For a bit more, could have really done it right. Overall, great idea, something very needed for LA, awesome feel. For design purposes - needs some more touches to really give that "wow" factor. The way it is - looks very nice, but definitely doesnt knock ur shoes off their feet. Would you go back? Yup.

(The garden view rooms at Trop do not have individual climate controls for a/c ... the tower does). Trop and Ballys are good locations. Trop is on the MGM-NYNY-Excaliber corner. Ballys (my fav) is on the Ballys-Bellagio-Caesars-Barnay(Drais) corner. I should work for ballys I send them so much business lol. Stratosphere is wayyyyyy out there, not even close. Pass even the TI-Wynn-Venetian area. Music. Yeah, real good house/techno look to Ice and Teatro (Thurs, n Sat). Amazin hookups there, August haha. Would be down for partying lol. Dunno if gonna be in town that date. A day doesnt pass w/o someone from the venues or just cool peeps saying -- when you coming back. If the weather gods are reading this, please rain on those fires in the mountains. Just awful

Well said. Its SO important than when you go out in Vegas you go the place that fits what you are looking for. It's no different in any city. A bachelor party of 10 guys should not be going to the same place that 4 convention persons -that wanta chill and relax - want to go to. The person who HATES to wait in line should not do the same thing as the person who doesnt mind to wait in line. Its important to figure out what you like. And even more important to figure out in advance.

Nice. Could definitely go for one of those Darquiris (sp) right now that Caesars sells in the courtyard in front of the hotel. That courtyard bar/cafe could have been decided a lot better cuz its a killer idea at a great location on ur walk down the strip.

Fav choices for clubs and hotels this weekend? Im hearing still alotta Mandalay.

Im of the opinion, if youre dates are flexibles and you are not doing a 3day weekend weekend, then just opt for the dates with the cheapest hotel rates.

12. Yesterday is not Today. Like any town's clubs, do not assume the door policy of 2 months ago is the same today. Policies change on how many line passes, bottles, gender breakdown. Dont assume that what worked for you before will work again, and what failed before will fail again. Policies change. Be informed. 13. Don't live in a bottle. People tend to think in a bottle sometimes that what they are doing is so much more unique than the person next to them and thats why they dont need a hookup. Dont be unrealistic to yourself.
