  1. ok, went to Pacha on Saturday to hear Victor. Let me say I am old club head from the early 90s. I started my clubbing at Tunnel, Roxy, Twilo and Sound Factory with Peters. Since earlier this decade, I slowed down considerably since I am now 34, married and have 2 kids. I went out on Saturday with Wifey to celebrate her B-Day and ended up in Pacha. Got there at 3 a.m. and stayed until 8 a.m. I was excited to hear Calderon and curious to see what was done to the SF space. I have not been here in years. First, I was suprised to see that the space itself is exactly the same as SF, except Peters was not spinning. The crowd, the design, even the flag hanging outside was the same. The dark, evil feel with all the open drug use was probably even more noticeable than I remember. I had a good time with the wife but now thinking back on the night, I have to say I was so dissapointed with the music. I would categorize it, at least for the time I was present, as strictly "Juice-head" music with repetive beats and the ocassional blast of bass. There were no vocals, melody or rythmn. I have to assume Victor was spinning during the hours I was there and I kept waiting for it to get better but never did. I was considering going to Hamptons to hear him there but probably will not. Overall, just wondering if he spun this type of music b/c of crowd at Pacha, which is same as SF? Or if his sound has now changed completely.
  2. I am def. Oldskool, 34 now. Started in 95 at Roxy and tunnel for after hours every Friday. Used to wait a long time in the cold to get into Tunnel back in the days when they picked you to get in and I was still learning the ropes. Luckily, that did not last long though and eventually, I never paid to get in to either. That probably does not happen anymore either. My best memories are in Tunnel, met my current wife there and we went thru many messy nights there together, then when it closed, moved the party over to Cracktory. Got married in 2002 and life slowed down. But, we still go out locally on LI, have our narcotic fun and sleep out since we have 2 kids, under the age of 3. I guess you can say they are generation "E" Babies. For you people around my age and still looking to go out a few times a year, I recommend Cielo on little W. 12th St. Small venue, no attitude, no wait or hassle and great house music with a 25-35 year old crowd, at least on the few occasions we went on Fridays last summer. A nice place in Astoria is Cavo. Good food, awesome decor and pretty good music, not underground like back in the day but neither are we anymore. But it is sexy, just have to deal with some Greek house but with enough drinks in you, you can manage. Plus, no cover to get in. enjoy life people, that's what it used to be all about!
  3. try Cielo, little w. 12 st, nyc
  4. Greenie, you are the man. Thanks for all the great advice, this should set me up for a great weekend. Are you in Vegas or Colorado as your handle indicates. If in Vegas, I would like to ask one other thing on a more private email. Anyway to IM or display addresses without everyone seeing?
  5. thanks for the advice. I am staying at the Rio so it looks like I won't have to go far on Thursday. It looks like ICE on Friday for the 3 year anniversary party. I was at this place when it opened exactly 3 years ago and it sucked, but it was it's first week and had HIp Hop so we left within 2 hours. Looks like it has improved a lot. I am aware of Drai's and the long lines it has. How about best pool party/atmosphere's? I recall Hard Rock SUnday was great last time. is it still or anywhere else?
  6. What's up everyone? I will be in town this upcoming weekend, Thursday 8/17/06-Monday, 8/21/06. I was last there 3 years ago so I am out of the loop. I am looking for any advice you can offer on house/techno clubs only as I am not interested in Hip Hop at all. I am coming from NY so I am used to hearing good, hard, house and I know west coast can be a bit more mellow but I will take what I can get. Again, any good advice is appreciated. THanks
  7. Speaking of cheating and playing dirty, the GayRod tried to cheat when he knocked the ball out of Arroyo's glove on his way to first, and then Torre argued an obvious home run and the call for interference against GayRod. :ghey:The Skanks are desperate. and all the asshole fans acted like a bunch of losers by throwing shit on the fiels. But I am not surprised since it is the Bronx Zoo. Don't feed the animals beer!!!!
  8. I went to Vegas this past week for the first time ever, along with 12 other guys for my boys bachelor party. I got there on Thursday at 9:30 am Vegas time, after getting up at 4 am Eastern time to leave NYC. What a long f'in day, and long weekend for that matter. I had hoped to control myself and do some normal things, but that worked for about the first 8 hours. Here's a quick run down of my 4 days of SIN! Got to MGM at 11 am Thursday and checked into my room right away, which was great. Went down to buffet and ate for the first time all day, which by this time was 10 hours after I woke up. Took a stroll around the casino, then went to play golf. I quickly found out about the heat in Vegas, which really wears you down. After 18 holes of golf, got back to the hotel and found everyone else in the party already coked up and shitfaced. It was 5:30 pm. Said f' it and joined in on the fun. That went on till 11 pm, then we hit Tabu. Finally went to bed at 5:30 am and tossed around until 10 am. Went down to the pool, took 2 Ambien and passed out until 4:30 pm. Woke up and ate a slice of pizza, so this was my second meal in 2 days. Stayed up and played the casino for a while, then went to ICE for a few hours between 12-2:30 pm. It sucked. Went to Drei's and that shit was pumpin. Took 5 pills and got fucked up. Saw Damon Wayans chillin in the corner with a bunch of Asians. Hooked up with 2 cousins, one married, the other turning 21 that night. Me and my boy took them back to the room and switched hitting them off till 9:45 am. Took them back to their hotel and returned to our pool. Continued getting wrecked until 5 pm. went to eat my 3rd meal of the weekend, but my mouth was destroyed and nothing tasted good. Tried to sleep but could not, so, take another E and wait for the strippers to arrive for the Bachelor Party. THey put on a great show and hung out until 4 am. Went back to Dreis', thinking we could capture the same magic as the night before , but no. only old people, but hey, i was wrecked, so we stayed until 8 am then left. I tried to sleep but by 10 am, i realized it was not gonna happen, so I order eggs and a case of beer to the room. Fuck it! Went to Rehab at the Hard Rock by 1 pm on Sunday and partied until 7 pm. I was running on pure fumes by this point. Went back to the hotel and finally, SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!! Woke up on MOnday and went home. Today is Wednesday, 5pm ET and just starting to feel like normal again. What a trip, literally. Probably my first and last trip ever. I lost 12 pounds, $700 in the casino and a large piece of my mind.
  9. well who did his scheduling? HE DID! so that can not be used as an excuse. he is really lost. it reminds me of a great athlete who hangs on to his career way too long and starts embarassing himself. he died with SF, he just doesn't know it yet.
  10. heard the track, and NOTHING TO IT. very basic, repetitive beat with no break, buildup, nothing. very plain.
  11. Shadow Lounge. not big and currently non-existent. that's where he spun last year
  12. it's a little weird that you would like JR and JP, considering their recent history with SF. but you're right, Space could not handle JP, and he would tear the fucking walls down. Plus, your sig about keeping certain people out of Broward is pretty racist, dont' you think?
  13. DIDN'T IT GET SHUT DOWN B/C 3 GIRLS OVERDOSED AROUND 8 PM? THAT'S THE RUMOR UP HERE IN NYC. IF SOMEONE WHO WAS THERE HAS NEWS, PLEASE REPLY!
  14. It's pretty sad, but it just shows that with all the morality issues going on now, everyone and every industry has to watch itself and clean up. From Martha Stewart, to Howard Stern, to Janet Jackson, TV, Radio, whatever,; the governmental authorities, led by Bush, are doing everything in their power to limit what they believe is immorality and indecency. I don't see how any club in NYC can operate with ease, and SF will never open it's doors again. Even if it did, let's face it, who's gonna go to SF and NOT do drugs? That club was not made for beer drinkers. As for JP and Black, you have to bring him up in this conversation. Afterall, it was his parties that kept the club open until Sunday night. The place was rampid with drugs in his glory days, and the biggest crackheads were there for JP, not just for SF. So, where JP goes next, which is Black, so will the crackheads. Before I take a ripping, I will acknowledge that I too was there doing my fair share of shit, so I am not excluded. It is weird or ironic that SF falls 1 week before the opening of Black, and while JP is in Miami for WMC. Can you say, "Conspiracy Theory?" I guess my point is that it will be difficult for any club in these political times to operate for real clubbers with afterhours. They will have to commercialize, sell bottles (liquor, not K), close by 4am and cater to the trendy or yuppi crowd. No more hardcore clubbing in NYC anymore. And that will affect anyone that goes out, not just SF.
  15. if you're logic is correct, then Bush should definately NOT make reference to it since the attacks happened on his watch. I would think it would work in favor of Kerry. Plus, Bush flew around the midwest for 10 hours on Air Force 1 like a little bitch because he though the White House was targeted.
