  1. a matter of first aid... every DJ should bring CDs to a gig. what if one of the needles break, or tuntables break... Edgar V spun CD + vinyl at ultra.....
  2. house was created by people who listened to disco. the drum machines and synths/electric pianos replaced quartets and cheesy string arrangments. techno was created by people who listened to an acidic version of house. trance was created by people who listened to techno. house is more of a boom-tick-boom-chick trance is more of a wow-wow-whada-wow to everyone outside of electronic music, all this shit sounds the same.
  3. Suzy Solar (Tampa) DJ Rap (jennifer lopez look a like) Lisa Lashes (Euro) Spindarella (salt-n-peppa) I think DNA -- those two girls that did the Mix 2 compilation...
  4. 1. it's not an insult 2. only if the CD has a scratch and skips 3. no, it does not matter 4. vinyl has a better feel when beat matching, and is more revered because of its rich tradition and history. however, nowadays DJs are using MP3s, CDs, drum machines, keybords, lap tops...
  5. there is some really beautfiul progressive trance... could anybody refer any good CDs?
  6. in yahoo's electronic music chat, people log on and mix tracks here and there... maybe we can hear some homegrown talent broadcasts.
  7. nice pic off of your web site.... urbal refreshments http://66.176.218.120/gallery/hizerb.jpg
  8. people are so consumed by sub-genres in dance/electronic music that if a househead were to hear a metronomic, pitch-perfect, chord-creating trance dj's cd, they would still profess he (or she!) sucked because they don't particularly favor trance. on the flip side, many devoted trance fans don't appreciate anything slower than about 135 bpms and find that the tracks are primitive and lackluster, even though they tend to carry more soul and melodic structure. i think the question should be... who here knows anything about music?
  9. Hey Stryke... just curious- the 303/909 combo wasn't synced via MIDI? jazzid should do live electronic jams every sunday night. i'd be down to dish out some tasty riffs and beats. BYOB bring your own box!
  10. Rabbit in the Moon Ultra 2003 - Miami Stole the frekin' show hands-down.....
  11. upcoming in July... DJ Jean is that the guy that did song back in 97 called "The Launch"?
  12. live sets will take electronic music to the next level through musical ability and showmanship. i'm getting bored with the same old DJs literally playing other peoples music and the only real skill they need is to match beats. kudos to infusion, underworld, rabitt in the mother fucking moon, electric skychurch, orbital, prodigy, josh wink, aphrodite, trip theory, crystal method, chemical bros., BT, dirty vegas, aphex twin, and any other electronic music performers who would rather make music than cue it. woo-hoo!
  13. i missed it, but i did catch him on "no cover" last night. he only played like two tracks. the second track was a wicked progressive tune that would have worked really well in any club, on any night.
  14. that's what CDs and MP3s are for! after a while i actually get tired of 94.9 zeta which is a toally different format. there's only so much staind, creed, system of a down, and three doors down i can take. if i want something better, I'll throw in a CD by Sepultura, Faith No More, Audioslave, etc.
  15. my girlfriend michelle has the exact same issue in hialeah. in her building people are yelling across the hall to have a conversation. i'm like just put on your choncletas and walk over there and sit down.....
  16. he just spun a couple of tracks of the roof. sick progressive.
  17. i would like to see rabbit in the moon there.....
  18. so will eddy send out a post for guestlist?
  19. there's no doubt in my mind that GA will pack Maze June 7th -- will 500+ people go to Maze every Saturday night if Acosta was playing a residency? hopefully. if you look at his residency at Spin, the attendance numbers slowly started tapering off until basically the club was sold and he stepped off. i'm sure he doesn't want to get a residency at a club here in Miami only to be disillusioned that people will come consistently week in and week out, when in fact they start to end up going somewhere else. i would be just as cautious as he in predicting a Miami turn-out. one week we're all dedicated trance heads, next week devoted house heads... no wonder most Miami DJs are dying to get the fuck out of Florida. they're having a difficult time filling a room with free admission, an open bar, and the occassional free CD. I read in one of Stryke's recent posts about possibly crossing the pond... I don't blame him. The night he was at Maze his music was off the fucking hook, and the turnout was despressing... I'm sure both he and Acosta's sets in places other than Miami are absolutely packed, and the fans are very grateful for them to be performing in their local club. everyone needs to support the local spinners/producers and stop jocking international cheese balls. also, trance is far from dead. people in 90s said that house was dead and they were wrong. basically these dance genres never fully go out of style, they just morph into new grooves. this new sound that GA is spinning lately (trance melodies coupled with break beats) is taking off. people everywhere are eating this with a spoon. except of course for locals.... support your local DJs!
  20. where's star bar? or what did it used to be before it was star bar?
  21. all this talk of scales, pounds, and shipping is taking me back to the days of club 1235.
  22. i hate to tell people 'i told you so', but.... i told you so. a few weeks back when we were all talking about maze the night that stryke vs. falcon both performed, the hip hop room upstairs was more packed than the main even down stairs. my post iterated that this year from memorial day through labor day, south beach will have a record number of shootings, stabbings, assaults, batteries, and any other methods of violence. why? hip hop.
