  1. don't rent a car! it's not worth it... then you'll be sitting in it trying to find a parking spot for days. taxi rides are economically comparable to those in manhattan. geograhically speaking, south beach is actually about the same size as manhattan: 200 streets long -- 12 avenues wide. although most of the happenings are between 1st and 23rd. pEAce!
  2. eden roc is around 43rd street and I wouldn't rent anywhere north of that. anything between 1st and 43rd street is cool. got to hotels.com i think they have pictures. also, antything that is on "ocean drive" is going to be a mad house.
  3. wow! big list.... please add "trevor riley" i saw him at slinky's party on a sweet yacht. he spun a set.
  4. As a chicago and acid house producer... it was nice to see Steve "Silk" Hurley and those type of old school cats finally getting recognition in this years Grammy's. When the place is booked, save me a couple of comps. I see you're in Kendall... I thought I was the only one into Chicago tracks in Kendall. pEAce!
  5. They had club space on the travel channel with Edgar spinning. Everyone always talks about club space. It's simply mammoth. If I owned the club I would have more outdoor events like when Oakey played. Have a bonfire n shit every full moon.
  6. Six Disc changer: Chistopher LAwrence "Around the World" Digital Dancefloor "Gategrasher Disc 2" Sasha & digweed "Northern Exposure" the one with the ropes? Radiohead "OK Computer" Audioslave Sasha "Airdrawndagger"

    audioslave

koky-- if you're familiar with the album, tell me what you think of track 10 as a nice house track with a "spin spin sugar" type of bassline. then track 12 i think it is as a dnb track... have you ever heard U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name" and Led Zeppellin's "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You." Everyone was stunned that rock sounded so good with dance beats and keys. Oakey personally catapulted "Babe". I came this close (!) to putting the former on my first CD a few years ago.

I remember there were a few Soundgarden drum n bass remixes that simply were massive tracks on the west coast, and central florida but went by virtually unnoticed for the rest of America. There aren't too many rock bands that do good remixes outside of the dnb or break realm. I really like that Metallica "For Whom the Bell Tolls" dnb mix. And of course anything by NIN, and the Orgy "Blue Monday" mixes. There has to be someone on this mundane board that is into rock and knows how to use music programs like Pro Tools, Reason, Cakewalk, and such. ROCK + DANCE = POSTMODERN MUSIC FOR THE MASSES.
  9. Everyone will talk about GA as being one of the best DJs to come out of Miami for years, no doubt, unfortunately we have not seen any his musical abilities with regard to live work. There are countless DJ/Producers who have successfully graduated from beat mixing to making music, and have revolutionzed the way that music is celebrated around the world because of their live work utilizing samplers, drum machines, keyboards, instruments, etc. GA is in dire need of non-DJ musical credibility and although I'm a loyal local fan, he needs to step it up a notch and start demonstrating musical skills if he wants to gain artistic recognition. PS -- I know that he has more than "Planet Soul." Tweak on. :jawdrop:

  11. I just purchased (yes, some of us still browse CD bins) the Christoper Lawrence set "Around the World." Why did it take me so long to become a fan of his. Highly recommended disc. PS--how would you classify the set? Thanks.
  12. I just purchased the "Around the World" CD by Christopher Lawrence and am throroughly impressed. Why did it take me so many years to become a fan? PS -- if you could classify this CD in one particular category, and I'm not going to mention all of them, what would it be?

  14. Speaking of LeSpam, aside from he and his All Stars getting kudos in Rolling Stone Magazine awhile back, a few friends told me that Good Morning America was at Fuacs last Thursday doing a piece for an upcoming show. Sweet. PS -- FX had a nice set going at Level on Saturday. The only DJ in South Florida with enough balls to play the new Sasha tune, which many claim too be overtly ambient.
  15. Call Help Me Howard, Al Sunshine, Deco Drive, New Times, Street News, Janet Reno, and the people at Y-100, or anybody else in the media who will listen to you. Because it is (was) a gift/donation, the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") will not protect your patient in this matter. However, bad publicity can be worse than a lawsuit, so go ahead and call all the media outlets.
  16. Personally, I'm waiting for the new Allen & Heath v6.
