    Happy Hour ?

Hitting the beach July 1st-3rd. Where are the best happy hour/pre-game parties on the beach for good house music?
  2. Hmmm, I have always wondered why a poll to list a favorite anything. I guess in America we love the lists. Top 100 this, Top 10 that- Miami is just a great clubbing town, each era has it's great spots, I mean I remember great times at Scratch, Paragon, Cameo, Glam Slam,Bash, Amnesia,Groove Jet, Warsaw, and not to mention Liquid where Chris P elevated the whole scene before his unfortunate demise, then you have Level, Crobar, Nikki Beach-my current favorite spot, Space, Shadow Lounge, Tantra, BED and now Amika. Pick one favorite-Good Luck!
  3. If you don't sell it by next Thurs, I'll be in SoBe July 1-3 and I would like to see it, if it's on point, I'll scrape up some loot mid july and you can mail it to me C.O. D. . PM Me. or email at johnnylawnycsobe@excite.com
  4. Looks like Sunday night with the one half of Deep Dish(hope it's the good half) is gonna be the call for my last night before I jet back to DJ in NYC for the 4th-I'm pissed that I'm missing Nikki Beach on the 4th, but can't be in two places at the same time. How is The Pawn Shop lounge, downtown?
  5. Anyone know the line-ups, I'm aware of the beach line-up from the board, Tsettos, Morillo, DT, etc. what's happening that weekend at Nocturnal and Space?-I'm hoping Deep Dish is going to be in town!!
  6. And said he got a bad review, and said he played commercial stuff, I would have to say that Matt Reid hit it on the head. I have met David and been a big fan of his for a long time. He probably wasn't getting the response he wanted from the crowd and switched it up. He is from the old school of djing and likes to please the crowd. And he is a pretty mainstream vocal remixer when you think about it. Mariah-Dreamlover, Pet Shop Boys-NY City Boy, Bad Yard Club-In De Ghetto, etc. I did catch him at Liquid during WMC back in the day and he blew the roof off the joint. Hopefully he will come back to DEKO and really throw down. I would never hold one set against a DJ/Remixer, especially one with a Grammy under his belt. I'm sure his afterhours sets at Discotech are totally different than the DEKO set.
  7. The club has 2 rooms, they should work towards consistency so the crowd knows what to expect. House in the Main room and Hip Hop/R&B/Reggae/Reggaeton, etc in the lounge. Or only have one room open and mix it up. Inconsistency only pisses the crowd off.
  8. www.southbeach.com anything below 23rd Street is good for the conference, try to be below 15th Street, don't rent a car, u don't need it, and tan in the early morning and late afternoon, the sun is plenty strong then and you shouldn't burn. Hit Amika, it's a great club with a great staff and vibe. Don't miss Nikki Beach Club on Sunday Afternoon. If you are flying out on a Sunday, change your flight, Nikki Beach Sunday is not to be missed. Other advice, go at another time when WMC is not there so you can really enjoy yourself. WMC is not the only happening week in SoBe. Bring lots of spending $, clubs are expensive and there is lots of good shopping on Collins in Sobe. Don't eat at Wolfies diner, but do eat at the 11th Street Diner-it's da bomb! http://ae.miami.com/entertainment/ui/miami/restaurant.html?id=5138&reviewId=14280&1c 11th Street Diner 1065 Washington Ave at 11th St, South Beach; 305 534 6373; open 24 hours daily. 11th Street Diner Open 24 hours a day: 11th Street Diner All-American fare is served in this bustling diner dating from 1948. The red leatherette banquettes are a perfect place to grab some late-night nosh or fill up on a proper diner breakfast. The food is everything you would expect: eggs every way; Southern Fried Chicken; complete meals of soup, salad, main course and dessert for $15, cheesecake and pancakes.
  9. Chicago has a great club scene went to the original Crobar there in 1999 had a blast, and I hear the scene in Denver is pretty good as well(of course skiing, no beaches in these spots). What about Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
  10. Problem is, most DJs could give a shit about this or any other board and the posts on them. So I wouldn't expect too many responses from them.
  11. everyone complains about the scene, the 2am closing law that came down a few years ago in Sayreville, clubs being too packed, too big, too empty, etc. I've been to Studio 9 and I like the place, and I understand it is a work in progress. I believe it will only get better with time. The NJ club community should either embrace every new venue and be positive or keep the negativity to themselves. A review is a review, but to call this place an overpriced VFW hall is way outta line. The decor is beautiful, the layout flows well, even the bathrooms are done right-I'm sure the ladies have no complaints with plenty of stalls and mirror space! My opinion is alot of thought went into this place, and it will be here for a while, so get used to it. If you don't like it, write a sensible & fair review, then move on. Don't bash a place just because it may be competing with your favorite night or spot. Everytime I've been to this place, I've been treated well, my drinks were never watered down and the atmosphere was good. True I haven't had an unbelievable night there yet, but I haven't had a terrible one either. Just my two cents.I still have to get over there on a Friday to hear Masi & Mello, I like their productions lately. Any reviews on this past weekend at Studio 9 with Lea Lorien and Jason Ojeda?
  12. And hopefully the cops will catch these thugs. It is ridiculous to even fight, but to use weapons is just chicken shit, go hand to hand, one on one, (Mano y Mano-a language the spics can understand)to settle it if you have to.
  13. hooked up at Plantation's next to Penrods, with some girl at Spring Break back in 1989, we went to her room got a blanket and some beers, went to the beach and got in on then we both passed out. We were rudely awakened by a spotlight in the hands of the beach patrol, she still had no shirt on, he was enjoying the show and running down the list of laws we broke, sleeping(camping)on the beach, indecent exposure, plus he knew she wasn't 21, I had just turned 21. She was mouthing off to him to turn off the light, etc, I appologized for breaking the laws, being from out of town, and asked him to turn off the light so she could get dressed and we would leave if he gave us a break. I guess being nice and since he got a free show, he let us go- Thank God!! I hear down in Fla they have those Monkey Blue Laws that you don't get out of jail until you pay your bail and fine, that's it.
  14. I believe Studio 9 will keep improving as time goes on, people have to give it a chance. It's going to be really interesting next weekend with Masi & Mello along with Lea Lorien's performance on Friday, then Jason Ojeda on Saturday. I think Jason will rock the crowd and play that room the way it is supposed to be played. The club itself is beautiful, from what I'm told the sound and lights will be added to, which will definitely increase the vibe in the main room. I have to check out the restaurant, the chef is supposed to be incredible. And I love the 3am closing, especially, when it's already 1230 and I decide I want to step out instead of staying in, I know I can get a good 2 hours of clubbing in with the 3am closing.
  15. was thinking of stopping in. Anyone know?

  17. Get out, see the world, she is one fish, in one pond,in one town, in one state,in one country, in a whole world of Oceans. Move on, fuggettabout her, it obviously wasn't meant to be. And she obviously has no loyalty to someone who helped her out. That's just the tip of the iceberg, you should consider yourself you go out now, and not later, and lost half your shit!
  18. Funhouse NYC Surf Club Liquid Sobe 90's Bash Sobe 90's Glam Slam Sobe 90's Confetti's 1989 Ft Lauderdale Tempts up until 2000 (even the original Tempts was Great) Joeys or Yakety Yak in Clifton Palladium NYC late 80s-early 90s Sound Factory NYC Original-mid 90s Crobar-Chicago USA-NYC Paradise Garage-NYC Tunnel-NYC Exit-NYC China Club-NYC-The Original and the new one. Nikki Beach-Sobe Amnesia-Sobe Space-Miami Montego Bay-LongBranch NJ 80s Copa-NYC, any year and of course the king of all time Studio 54 NYC too bad I was too young for it.
  19. Not for Nuthin, I was there July 4th 1999 when Richie played Tempts, It was the only time I saw the kind of early night energy there other than the closing parties. And Richie rocked it all night long on a night that was busy, but no where near full. I think he would do a phenomenal job there and he has more than paid his dues. Nice guy-Great DJ/Producer with alot of great years ahead of him. He's just getting started.
  20. Digital DJing is the future so get used to it. DJs that call using computers, and other digital formats cheating are probably just jealous because they don't have the equipment, software, or skills to learn the new technology, and trust me, it is an ongoing process and not easy. Eventually there will be a computer in every booth, with the ability for guest djs to just hook up a hard drive to the USB port and have all their music on the drive. And they will be able to digitally record and burn their set right there. Yes, I agree that the truest form of DJing is 2 or 3 turntables and a mixer, but you can only do so much with that. I do believe it's much easier for a dj that could rock a crowd with turntables and mixer to adapt to the new technology, God forbid if a new digital dj had to walk into a booth with 3 tables and a knob mixer, he probably couldn't do it.
  21. DJ right now, and has been for about 4-5 years.
