I've been to OPM once, a couple years ago. I went with a big group of people visiting from LA. I don't even like hip hop, and I had a great time. We got a hookah, and it was all good.

Keoki? Dave Aude? Bad Boy Bill? So Ice books DJs like John Digweed, Kaskade and Oscar G, and then what, they feel they have to balance those guys out by booking some of the worst DJs on the planet? Oh, well. As long as Ice tries their best to avoid anymore colossal fuck-ups like booking Dave Aude and Satoshi Tomiie on the same night. That was an amateur move if I've ever seen one, having Dave Aude, who is a poor excuse for a DJ, open up for one of the best talents to come out of Asia, Satoshi Tomiie.

I think that some people will come out here instead, but the casinos who will really see a large influx of extra gamblers will be the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos in Connecticut. There is a dramatic difference in price between driving 2 hours to Atlantic City, and flying cross country to Vegas. I think the thinking among a lot of tri-state area gamblers will be that AC is two hours away, and they're closed. Foxwoods is also two or so hours away, and they're open. Or, we can spend $600 to fly to Vegas.

Per his site, Max will be spinning at Ice this Friday. My guess is they just put this booking together very recently, which is why no one knew about it.

Kaskade is spinning at Ice on Saturday night the 1st, and I have heard that Nic Fanciulli is spinning at Jet on Monday the 3rd. Also, Faarsheed spins every Friday night at Empire Ballroom for Late Night Empire afterhours.

Saturday night Ice is bringing in Serge Devant, one of the residents from Crobar NYC. It is Serge and Faarsheed all night.

^^I thought about that Greenie, but when you really think about it, Ice isn't anymore of a megaclub than Utopia was, despite the fact that Ice is a much nicer venue.

First off Vegas Guy...
You must not be a true partier or Rolled all your brain cells off...To say Jonathan Peters is a has been. First off the guy had like 75% of the Main Parties this year at the WMC, or maybe you don't know cause your a VEGASGUY not a WORLDWIDE PARTIER!! Last year at Studio was a complete bonehead move by the Promotions Staff to book him. He is a Deep Electronic/Underground House DJ. He does not fit Studio.
This year ICE did a good job in booking him. In NY he is huge. Spins at PACHA like every week, at least a few times a month. And at WMC 06 he tore it up at the parties I was at. Nikki and Nocturnal.
But what people don't realize is Vegas is getting away from the House and Electronic Scene. There are a few people that are keeping it alive like Zee at Jet. And Late Night Empire, and ICE. But Ice is struggling because of the fact that this day and age it is all about where to be. People want to be at the hottest clubs, and with places like Pure, Tao, Jet, Tryst who are spinning Top 40 it is killing the electronic sound. Not to mention Ice has become a locals spot. Most tourist have no clue about Ice.
Don't get me wrong Sharam spinning how could you pass if you love electronic music. But you mix that with the one of the hottest clubs in Vegas its guaranteed. I mean really go see an awesome DJ at the hottest club or go see a really good DJ at a rapidly declining club. And I hate to say that because everyone that loves electronic music knows that ICE is where it started.
And yes I know I am going to get in a battle to say it started there. But it was the first club to open before afterhours and in its main room spin Electronic/Dance/Trance music. So yes that is where it started. Hell half the top host worked there at one point.
So to sum it all up. JP or Deep Dish? Ice or Jet? Well Sharam is hot right now!! In most places, however I can tell you this you take that venue to NY and you put JP at Pacha or even Sound Factory since thats JP's home and you put Sharam somewhere else in the city guarantee you it will look just like it did this MDW.
And Ice can't compete anymore with the Casino Clubs...Everyone make sure you get as much Ice as you can cause it won't be around long...
Hmm, where to start. So JP played 75% of the big parties in Miami huh? At best, your boast is laughable. Even you know that is exaggerated by a factor of 20. He played a party at Nocturnal that was well attended because it was during conference, not because he is some sort of internationally known talent. The guy can't even draw enough people to fill my living room on one of the biggest weekends of the year in Las Vegas, so if you think that Ice made a sound business decision by booking him, then all I can say is: lol. Jonathan Peters doesn't have anything remotely resembling a huge following anywhere outside the tri-state area. Being a draw in NYC alone does not guarantee you can fill a club anywhere. JP has proved that the last two years. So do you think Ice's decision to book JP was better than booking, say, Steve Lawler? Steve played Ice earlier this year. and he had so much fun that he said he wanted to come back. John Digweed said the same thing when he played here back in January. If you'll see, John Digweed is on the west coast this month, playing every market aright around Vegas, but not Vegas. Which brings me to your second contention....
Ice can no longer compete with the clubs on the Strip, but it is not solely for the reasons you think. It is true that the end is near for them, and everyone knows it. And even if somehow that is not true, their lineup over Memorial Day weekend only fuels the talk that they are close to done.
Let's start with their Friday night promotion, "Three Kings". Instead of booking someone like the aforementioned DJs in the previous paragraph, Ice rounds up three guys who have been playing Ice quite a bit lately, but who no one who lives on the west coast is going to get excited about because they play out every weekend. Essentially, that was like booking local DJs. On Saturday they did book a local DJ, or a guy who is essentially a local DJ, that being Skribble. Again, who is going to be excited about Mr. MTV? Even if he actually is as good as I've been told, people just can't get amped up about a DJ the grew up watching on MTV. On Sunday, Ice books JP, presumably because he's big in NY and a lot of people from the tri-state area come to Vegas on MDW. As we all know, that was a huge mistake because he drew fewer people than I had in my kindergarten class. Meanwhile, Sharam was absolutely rocking the house at Jet, and Tiesto was down the street doing the same at Empire Ballroom. So, like I have been saying for about a month, Ice really mailed it in on MDW.
Oh, and let's clear something up. Ice didn't start anything, and if you think they did, then you must not have ever visited this town before 2004. I would hope that someone such as yourself who professes to know so much about this town would know the history of the club scene here, but it appears you do not. Back in 1995, a venue by the name of Epicenter opened in the space now known as Empire Ballroom. In 1996, a small group of promoters started a Saturday night party there called Utopia. Once this party got huge, the people behind the party Utopia took over the venue, and renamed it Utopia. This is where electronic music got its start in the club scene in Vegas, not Ice. And lest you say that was an afterhours venue, it opened every Saturday at 10pm. And lest you say Ice was the first to book international talent, they weren't, Utopia was. The second venue to book international talent was Ra. Ra had a house music party on Wednesdays called Pleasuredome, and it was successful for years. Another venue that got into the house music scene, and booked some of the biggest names in the world of electronic music before its unfortunate demise was C2K. So you see, Ice didn't start anything, they merely continued it.
Another contention you make, that Vegas is moving away from house music, is also pretty funny. If that were true, then why would Tao mgmt. waste their time scooping up the house DJs from Teatro, as soon as they became available, to head a Tuesday night promotion? Why would the Light Group have bothered to spend the extra money on a third room for house music at Jet? Why hasn't Empire Ballroom closed yet? Why is the Pure terrace wall to wall people if no one wants to listen to house? Why does Godspeed continue to draw truckloads of people to the Foundation Room every Monday? Why would the promoters of Rehab bother spending money to book house DJs to play their wildly successful party? While there is still a lot of room for progress, house is probably bigger in Vegas right now than it has ever been. I'm really not sure why you would say otherwise. We'll never get to the point where every club is playing house as the leadlining tunage, but house has carved out a pretty big niche here, and it is only getting bigger. Don't expect Vegas to be like Chicago or NYC overnight when it comes to house, because those cities birthed the genre. However considering all that it is up against, house does fairly well here.

That's awesome. I am talking to my roommate right now, and he says there was about 25-30 people at Ice at about 5am. He doesn't have any reason to lie to me about that. There were more people than that in the VIP booth I was in at Jet. I am still holding out for the day when Las Vegas gets a clue, and stops booking has-beens like Jonathan Peters.
Meanwhile, Jet was rocking, bigtime. I finally had a reason to party in the main room, and see it in all its glory. Ice has a better sound system, but Jet's lighting system blows away anything else to be found here in Vegas. Jet was packed to the rafters with beautiful people who were definitely up for a good time. The selection of women there Sunday night (and every night, really) was simply amazing.

If you think that the Nevada Gaming Commission would deny Donald Trump a gaming license because Steve Wynn doesn't want him to run a casino in Vegas, then you're an idiot. The Gaming Commission is appointed, not elected. So is the Gaming Control Board. You made an idiotic post, and I called you on it.

Do you have any update/info about trump's spot? I had heard last year that around 12-24 months ago Wynn made it pretty sure in a tactical move that gaming would never ever give the Donald a gaming license in sincity, evaaaaar. Apparently the vestige of a Wynn hatred towards Trump that dates back to a deal he got screwed on years ago (maybe around the Kerkorian period). Did Trump get a gaming license recently?
You don't really think the Nevada Gaming Control Board's, and the Gaming Commission's, decisions are based on what Steve Wynn thinks, do you? Donald Trump got a Nevada gaming license back in 2004. A simple google search would've told you that.

Every club worth your time will be jammed this weekend. The only way to avoid crowds on a holiday weekend in Vegas is stay in your room and order room service. Seriously. Even if you are able to bypass the masses of people waiting to get in, the club will be wall to wall people once you're in there. Pure, Tao, Tryst, Empire Ballroom, Jet, Light, Body English, Rain, Tangerine..they will all be mobbed. You have to exercise a healthy tolerance for crowds when visiting Las Vegas on a holiday weekend. Half the world is here.
