Did you all read the article on tiesto here on cp? Tiesto: My decision to stop playing vinyl was mainly so that I could travel light and always have my CDs with me, instead of losing my record box 100 times a year when I can’t afford to be without my music! Secondly, CDs always sound great and if a CD gets broken or something I can easily have a replacement copy within a few hours as we keep backups of my current catalogue in the office. The CDJ-1000 MK2s have never ever let me down and, of course, I can complete more tricks with CD players than with vinyl decks, such as pitching down, reversing and extending the breaks etc.

ok you guys are not getting my point... yes because dance music is so small compaired to pop or hiphop that it does take a big hit from downloading but pop and hiphop are taking the same percentage hit as dance music. The downloading is being targeted as if its the only thing stopping dance music from rising. Maybe its the music itself that isnt as good as it use to be? Maybe dance music doesn't have enough media? Or the fact that its so linked with drugs could make parents not want their kids to listen to it? There are so many things thats making it fall and downloading of course is just one.

I dont think buying enough dance music isnt the only problem either. Dance music isnt the only genre being effected by the downloading craze. There is something else missing and its not that people are downloading. Of course it does do some damage to the genre by downloading but its basically doing damage the all genres as well.

So I was djing at a company party and I tried playing some dance music but they wernt as into it so I put on some hiphop and i got the dance floor moving a lot more. blah..

I was never into CG.. i dunno

I dont think this topic should even exist. We should be supporting DJ's in this dance genre as it needs every help it can get at this moment. Support the music and stop hating.
