as far as the movies go... there's the one about the guy who likes having horse sex or the one with a 12 year old girl getting graphically raped. both sound like real crowd pleasers.

    oh but it's considered "art"

i'm sure both will get standing ovations....every freaking movie at sundance gets raved about. you never hear about a shitty movie at sundance.

  3. i went to Joe's for the first time last week. in all honesty the stone crabs didnt really blow my skirt up. perhaps im not as big of a stone crab fan as i thought i was, but for as much as my group ended up spending on the meal they didnt really live up to all of the hype. the soup, sides and key lime were all excellent, but the wine could have been chilled. next time i will order something else.

Thats exactly why I didn't order the stone crabs when I went. Got the crab cakes for dinner and they were great! I had a taste of lobster too and it was delish.

Yea, thanks for that bite of your crab cake. :-*

that is soooooooo hot, i don't know why.

Are you sure. My understanding is that this legislation is relatively new.

been around for a couple of years now...but jan 2007 was always set as the enforcement date

  5. I'm glad to see we put 4 year olds in front of a dj booth blasting music at 100 decibels..

I saw a dumb broad with her new born near the house tent at GG, I wanted her arrested..

So while you think this is cute, I think the parents should be locked up.

i agree. she should be with grandma, not some roadie.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Miami Beach residents and city commissioners are going head to head over a proposed amendment that would make it illegal to have private gatherings at home.

Residents met at the Miami Beach City Hall Wednesday afternoon to discuss the deep repercussions for the residents if the amendment passes.

The proposed amendment would ban all large private gatherings and would discourage private parties for events such as the Super Bowl or MTV awards in the city of Miami Beach.

It may also limit the current status as a city that welcomes events of national prestige.

Such restrictions are unheard of in other world-class cities both in the United States and Europe, and residents said they just couldn't allow this in Miami Beach.

"So the intent of the ordinance we support," Alex Heckler, an attorney representing some homeowners', said. "However, the way it is written, it actually affects everyday homeowner and resident from having their own private events."

If passed, the amendment would make illegal any private gathering of guests in your home where together guests may bring in excess of $100 of food, wine or contribution to cleaning.

This would mean that 15 guests, each bringing a gift or bottle of wine worth more $7 each, would be considered a commercial event, in violation of the law.

"Any event were your receive over $100 in gifts, goods or services would therefore be illegal and you would be fined," Heckler said.

The party may be shut down immediately and homeowners or renters would be liable for fines that would begin at $1,000 and may exceed $15,000.

The ordinance would preclude, even on private property, such events as Christmas parties, cocktail parties, birthday parties, barbecues if gifts are exchanged or food or drink contributed wherein and the total value of all gifts exceed $100.

The law was originally intended to protect homeowners from the unscrupulous renting of homes for large parties where ticket charges, sale of alcohol, large amounts of traffic, noise, garbage and other such annoyances are causing neighbors discomfort.

"I think as far as the noise issue is concerned, that needs to be modified," concerned resident Karyn Robinson said. "At 2 a.m., I don't want my kids coming downstairs saying they can't get to sleep because of noise."

  8. Tryptophan and turkey

According to popular belief, eating tryptophan in turkey meat causes drowsiness. Turkey does contain tryptophan, which does have a documented sleep-inducing effect as it is readily converted into serotonin by the body. However, tryptophan is effective only when taken on its own as a dietary supplement. Tryptophan in turkey is found as part of a protein, and, in small enough amounts, this mechanism seems unlikely.[9]

A more-likely hypothesis is that the ingestion of large quantities of food, such as at a Thanksgiving feast, means that large quantities of both carbohydrates and branched-chain amino acids are consumed. Like carbohydrates, branched-chain amino acids require insulin to be transduced through the myocyte membranes, which, after a large meal, creates a competition among the amino acids and glucose for insulin, while simultaneously creating tryptophan's reduced competition with other amino acids for the Large Neutral Amino Acid Transporter protein for transduction across the blood-brain barrier. The result is a greater availability of tryptophan, via the Large Neutral Amino Acid Transporter, for conversion into serotonin by the raphe nuclei, which is then available for conversion into melatonin by the pineal gland. Drowsiness is the result.

Alcoholic beverage consumption at holiday feasts is likely to compound the effect.

On average, a full grown male must consume some 45 pounds of turkey to have any narcoleptic effect.

....and stuffing your fat face with anything makes you sleepy.

i've always known the trypto-whatever was bullshit. people just like an excuse to be gluttonous and lazy on the same day.

    i love thanksgiving.
