  1. It was 1997, at the offive of X-It Records, when CLAUS TERHOEVEN aka NIC CHAGALL and STEFAN BOSSEMS aka DJ BOSSI met each other for the first time, not knowing what will grow out of that coincidence.

Today - seven years later - NIC and BOSSI - better known as COSMIC GATE - belong to the most succesful German DJs and producers in the international dance scene. The sound of COSMIC GATE covers from trance to hardtrance over techno and is simply unmistakable.

Their hits THE DRUMS, MENTAL ATMOSPHERE, EXPLORATION OF SPACE, FIRE WIRE or RAGING - just to mention a few - reached the top of the worldwide hitlists and they are still floorkillers all over the planet from America to Australia and from England to South Africa.

Meanwhile COSMIC GATE belong to the most requested DJs of the world. NIC and BOSSI play their overwhelming sets in the hottest clubs like the Velfarre in Tokyo, the Glow in Washington, the Matrix in Nimwegen or the Passion in Coalville and at the biggest events on earth like Nature One, Mysteryland or Trance Energy in Holland. No wonder that they finally entered the popular DJ TOP 100 of the best DJs of the world in 2003 and 2004, published by the British dance magazine „DJ Magâ€.

In 2004 COSMIC GATE delivered the vinyl-eps DIFFERENT CONCEPT PART 1 and PART 2 including the four very expressive and varied tracks: ULTRA CURVE, BILINGUAL, TOMORROW and MONOTUNE. These tracks showed how versatile COSMIC GATE are and brought them a lot of credits from the wellknown djs and producers of the international scene.

The latest single I FEEL WONDERFUL - featured by the fabulous singer JAN JOHNSTON - is a topic of conversation. End of 2004 a mysterious bootleg named COSMIC - FREEFALL suddenly appeared in the UK. The whitelabel contained the instrumental COSMIC GATE track BILINGUAL remixed with the vocals of the classic-trance-tune SKYDIVE - FREEFALL. Like many others NIC and BOSSI were excited about this idea and contacted directly JAN JOHNSTON, in order to let this become an official release. In January 2005 JAN JOHNSTON flight to Germany and re-recorded with COSMIC GATE the vocals in a studio close to cologne. Created was the new single COSMIC GATE FEAT. JAN JOHNSTON - I FEEL WONDERFUL.

It began as a bootleg end of 2004 and now in 2005 COSMIC GATE rev up with two brandnew mixes. The 12 INCH MIX - based on the original version of BILINGUAL - with tough beats and a piano break. Plus the slower and much deeper AM TO PM MIX with a breath-taking atmosphere.

The record can be find in the cases of all wellknown djs like f.e. TIËSTO, PAUL VAN DYK, ARMIN VAN BUUREN, FERRY CORSTEN, MARCO V etc.. After the summer it will be released in UK on the label Mealstrom Records and of course it will be the theme of the forthcoming mix album COSMIC GATE - BACK 2 BACK VOL. 2.

The fact that the sound of COSMIC GATE rocks, shows also their remix-discography:

TIËSTO, FERRY CORSTEN, BLANK & JONES, SVENSON & GIELEN or VANESSA MAE are only a few artists to mention, which let one of their own tracks be refined by a COSMIC GATE REMIX in the past.

At the moment NIC CHAGALL and BOSSI are working hard on their third artist-album, which will be released at the end of the year. So you can be very excited about the continuation of the COSMIC GATE-success-story.

  2. Dinosaur Djs and newbie Technology

Are the old schools being pushed out?

with all the NEW technology going on for mixing live

(actually i dont call it mixing but lests move on)

...do the old schoold djs still have a chance or are they soon to be pushed out

because their expences are too high

cost of records, more baggage to carry, and so on.

Meanwhile a newbie technology dj can walk into the club with an iPod and still play tracks all night?

Whats better for your ear? what would you rather see as a club goer?

How does this effect your time in the spotlight as if you were a dj?

and to the club heads... do you still respect a dj when you notice hes not using any vinyl?

  3. I do have a problem with people who are damn leeches and vultures and contribute NOTHING to the betterment of the scene.

Stop looking for damn handouts! CD's don't kill vinyl, freeloaders kill vinyl!

    very true in my opinion

    Just as a NOTE Robbie

how many times during your LVIE SHOWS, GIGS, or just in general online have you had someone come to you and say

"CAN YOU PASS ME THAT TRACK?"

i cant see vinyl being haulted in production for the least

yea its a bit of trouble to produce but again

so are cigarettes and many other "commodities"

but you wont see those stopped in production either

  4. , since CDs/laptops offer many more capabilities than a set of turntables do.

    not true actually

theres a # of whats called (AWSOME NEW TECHNOLOGY) that i see a few djs using

i ask questions about it and while i do embrace new tech

i see that the NEW TECH also has its major limits

    for example

with tables you can do the following

    play record #1

    que record #2

all while playing a loop from Cd Decks #3 & #4

you cant do ANY of this with the new tech

If you know a way to do a spinn back with ALL of the new technology then please point that out because its non existant with all of the new tech

you also cant cue up TWO tracks and play a 3rd with new tech at the same time you are adding an effect to track 1 for example

if any of that is confusing i suggest you go back to using Vinyl and Cds together

because its the ONLY way it can be done

    Antifm Radio

  5. i been working the the music industry for 2 years, doing royalties.

Its a pain in the ass when your trying to get an album out and someone didnt clear a sample. People from Dr. Dre to Apple computer have been sued for not clearing samples. copyright infringement.

but seriously, people share software and stuff on torrent sites, I mean, I guess it all depends who's looking, but I seriously doubt (and i have never heard of) anyone coming after a Dj for streaming music or offering downloads...

i have a friend in california

shes doing an FM radio show as well as an internet show

    they had the

Taskforce for Hi Technology Crimes come right to her house

Battering RAM in hand (didnt use it)

Local / State police as well as a couple reps from FBI

It was insane, it just happened a couple months ago

They had a warrent and took her PC + all technology that can hold any form of audio wether it be digital or analog form from her house.

Not only did they take all her personal stuff but went to the studio (FM) to gather anything that could potentialy be hers as well.

All because she wasnt licenced with LOUD MUSIC.com + some other outfit for streaming rights.

She had to sign a contract stating that in no way was the radio station itself aware of her personal music hobby.

Shes still in court over it

Earlier this year in Italy there was a DJ arrested for having use of over 5000 mp3s

    plus over 1000 movie files

they came to the nightclub where he plays

    took his stuff

    took equipment from the club

    etc etc

but your correct on one main point

.........it matters whos watching but most importantly

    what they see you doing.

  6. couldn't agree more

the night he was at crobar was horrible, i was pushed around for 4 hours by 5000 people, this is the same shit in the making

carl is one of my favorite, but i would reather go to see him out of state than get pushed around the whole night

go see him up in CT or boston and youll only pay like $5 to $20 for the night

  7. I DONT THINK U SHOULD BE CONCERNED ... you are not saying that the mixed set contains all your music... you not taking any credit therefore its not illigal --post the track listing and then you fine 100% as you giving the artist his due!

actually if you post the tracklisting

    you are not fine

youll need to pay some extreme royalties

I have to folow some pretty tight rules for my streaming site since the playlist was added

    also

Streaming sites based in the USA are the only ones who are not "accepted" in the way we think

the only ones that are accepted are the ones based OUTSIDE of the USA.

As long as your streaming server is here in the US, you got problems

as for uploading / downloading / offering mix sets

well you can offer it at ZERO cost to the recipient

but you can NOT upload it for distribution

you can download all you want to

but uploading is where the legal pinch comes in

..while i was working with Intel corp, i was able to read up extensively about all this

im only advising on what i remember at the moment

  8. cox on new years ....

i wouldnt goto that if you paid me one GRAND

its not worth beings slammed into a PACKED house full of hot sweaty bodies.

I love to hear carl but no way like this on NYE

im sure we would spend about 2 hrs just to get IN the 1st set of doors

and probably another30-60 mins to get to the floor area

  9. dvo? Are you saying youll be spinning there regularly?

also If anyone hasnt been to DEEP yet

heres now you get to the MAIN FLOOR events

As you walk into the club youll see a row of doors in front of you

the ones you want are mainly on the RIGHT SIDE.

If you go through the doors and see stairs going DOWN

then HOLD UP and move to the RIGHT SIDE doors.

Devoksin i LOVE that main floor booth setup

    you been in there yet?
