Well the first raves i went to or knew about(Storm) were in abandoned warehouses/factories in brooklyn and queens around 1989 and they were the sickest parties ever(i still have fliers to some of these parties lmfao). With dj's like sven vath,dj dag,frankie bones,dj hell,jimmy crash,lenny dee,josh wink,richie hawtin blowin shit up. Very underground as you could get away with anything back then(smokin da herb^^). Things were great until about 94 when the firemarshalls couldnt be bought out anymore or maybe it was mayor gulliani just being a dick. Anyways all the parties were gettin shut down. Then it all went commercial and candy. Now its a dead scene.
very true. I got into the scene around 95, so i did miss the storm rave ear. But it doesnt get anymore underground then the "rave in the cave" in upstate ny. Perpetual Rhythem i believe it was called, held back in 97.

they should start selling coffee at these clubs, lol. By 7am my legs felt like they had bricks attached to them. I stopped drinking alcohol at 3am. Drank water for the rest of the 4 hours. I just didnt have enough energy to stay any later.
I just cant understand how danny could spin til 3pm. It amaze's me. Jp i could understand cuz hes gettin fucked up and shit. But doin it sober. Christ i wanted to bring danny a breakfast buritto before i left. BUt i guess if your gettin paid 10 grand of whatever he got for the night id stand up djing for 16 hours to.

yeah but the customer service is bullshit. Everyone sounds like there on drugs over there. I could choke one of them!!!!
My fuckin antenna just came apart only after a month and a half of using it. Yeah they'll replace it for free cuz its under warrenty. But you gotta wait 4 fuckin weeks. When someone i spoke to prior to that told me it was only goin to take 10days.

Im not forgetting the clubs before these....There were a few other Legendary clubs, but i never experianced any of the clubs before 1995...
But there is 1 fact that still stands the clubs, crowd, vibe, music is not anywhere near the way it used to be...

drugs definately enhance the time. Will turn a shitty party into a bangin one, lol. Had great times with my friends on them. Also been on many journeys to what seemed like other planets and places. But about 60 hits of acid later and bunch of PCP. Im pretty normal for the most part. But i do have bad anxiety, and i think my nerves have had it. I can barely take a hit off a joint without buggin out nowadays. With all the fun i had and memorys i do regret doing some of the things i have.

Does anybody know how profitable is to be a party promoter and how does it work ?? I never done it, but the owners of this small place in the meatpacking district is talking me into promoting a party on Tuesdays. I chose the music, the bartenders, etc..Need to bring the people, place is pretty small..only about 100 people max.
Any ideas on how can I negotiate with the owner will be very helpfull

usually you would work out a deal with taking a cut at the door. ex. if its $5 to get in you ask to get 3$ per head. You get 100 people there u made yourself $300 for the night. The bar keeps the other 2$ per herd plus what they make off alcohol. Thats atleast 1 way you can work it
now if theres is no cover then i dont know lol. Im sure someone else around here could help u out

Let me correct myself. Its not technically a genre of "house", but basically developed concurently with the original "house"music that came out of Chicago and the UK. Essentially its refered to as "freestyle" now, but it has also been called "Latin hip hop" and "latin freestyle". In other words in the song "diamon girl" hits you then you know!
absolutely my brotha!!! Im 27 and i must say i love that freestyle shit more then any other music. It touches me in a way i cant explain, makes me so fuckin happy and energized. Its like being on drugs without actually being on them. You'll like the style of music i spin then because i have alot of 80's/freestyle cuts with a nice house beat behind it
