  1. It's beginning to rival New Year's Eve as a get-out-of-the-house celebration. That means bar-restaurants, particularly sports bars, are scoring big this Super Bowl Sunday. The stadium-like Park Sports Club at Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Resort even sold out its $850 ''sky boxes'' nearly a week before the big game. As of press time, the following places still had some seats left -- and there should be plenty of room to party at the ninth annual... Link To Original Article
  2. Different generations have vastly different impressions of Bill Cosby. Baby boomers think of the irreverent stand-up comedian and creator of the Fat Albert cartoon series; to Generation X, he'll forever be Cliff Huxtable, beloved patriarch on The Cosby Show and president of the Hideous Sweaters Club; others might remember the Jell-O Pudding guy; and today's kids might recognize the name from Little Bill, an animated series based upon his children's books airing daily on Nickelodeon and Saturday mornings... 3. The UK house music stable is going bigger and better this year with a move away from the poolside to the beach side. Link To Original Article
  4. For some, a study in art and history is going to, say, crobar on a Monday night for Back Door Bamby. For others, it's just whiling away the hours on Lincoln Road watching the Best in Show. But when it comes to museum-caliber art, you won't find it in a club or parading in front of Balans on a Sunday afternoon. Instead, you may want to check out the Museum of Contemporary Art, a focal point of funky activity in North Miami that just happens to be celebrating the 10th anniversary... Link To Original Article
  5. I haven't raved about a local musician in quite a while. Before I do, let me tell you about one local guy who's just awful. Me. I own two guitars and I can barely play either of them. To the untrained, uninterested ear, my strumming skills probably seem proficient. The truth is, I'm just faking it. If you hang around listening to me for more than five minutes, you'll realize that the intro to Stairway to Heaven makes up the bulk of my repertoire. Link To Original Article
  6. Some will remember the days when the area of 23rd Street between Collins Avenue and Dade Boulevard was the hotbed of haute nocturnal activity thanks to places like the much beloved Groove Jet and long gone but not forgotten bar Lola. Today the street boasts Talulah, the fabby restaurant with a buzzing bar scene owned by chefs Andrea Curto and Frank Randazzo, but that's about it. Link To Original Article
  7. I know it's not the manliest thing to admit, but the truth is, I've had problems with my hair ever since I was a little kid. When I was young, my mom wasn't content unless I sported the typical 1970s Dr. J Afro. For the four years at the University of Miami, I made the mistake of going with the modified mullet. Short on the top, short on the sides, and long in the back like Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer. Needless to say, I wasn't exactly a chick magnet with that hairdo. Link To Original Article
  8. Those kids at Pop Life never stop. First they throw things up a bit by moving to its original space now known as The District. And when things start to slow down, they throw us for a loop and start a new party. This time, it's appropriately called Panic, a monthly party dedicated to the under-appreciated underground music scene at Gigi's Bistro in the Design District. The second installment is 11 p.m. Jan. 20 and features Pop Life's spin doctor and founder Ray Milian... Link To Original Article
  9. Coconuts Bahama Grill has reopened in Fort Lauderdale at 429 Seabreeze Blvd. Same owners, same management, same location, same Bat-channel (OK, maybe not a channel, but it is by the Intracoastal). Link To Original Article
  10. You don't have to be Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Will Smith or Jada Pinkett Smith to get access to nightspot of the moment, Snatch. You, too, can ride the mechanical bull at your own risk (not advised for expectant mothers or people with heart problems, of course), or you can check out the new place above Snatch called Suite, a VIP Lounge that TAI Entertainment has snagged for its fabby new Friday night fiestas. 11. I spent New Year's Eve with a box of Cocoa Puffs, a gallon of milk and Carson Daly counting down the last seconds of 2005 on the tube. Link To Original Article
  12. On any given night, U Street literally pulses with music. Rap from cruising SUVs sends shivers through the sidewalk. DJs spin hip-hop and soul for the stylish sets at such clubs as Republic Gardens and Bar Nun. Punk and indie rock shatters the relative late-night quiet at the Velvet Lounge. And...
