  1. During the week, you're pretty much stuck with Seamless. But remember that a lot of clubs in Vegas don't close until well past 3 a.m. (if the crowds are good) so afterhours here is a relative term. If you're still functioning by Thursday, Empire Ballroom has its locals night then.
  2. All Greenie's advice is good. And yes, you can take cameras in and snap away. About the only time you might get told to stop shooting is if you're trying to get a crotch-shot of Paris Hilton. Seamless is good for afterhours, as is Empire Ballroom. Scores has also recently opened up a room called the Sky Lounge for an afterhours club enviro but I haven't been there yet so can't say what it's like.
  3. Does that mean Freeze is moving over to N9NE Group with P, or is P going to start spinning at Tabu on Sundays as well as being one of the newest DJs at the Palms?
  4. It was great! Just about every industry mover-and-shaker was there. The only sad part of the night was the confirmation that Ice is indeed closing on Saturday. I didn't see anyone dancing on the bar like at Bad Boy Bill's Tabu show but then again, I left early at around 3 a.m. or so.
  5. Thursday Funkenstein’s Funkadelic Monsters Ball: DJs Franzen, Big Dee Friday Tricks or Treats: DJ Franzen Saturday Night of the Living Dolls 4: DJs Warren Peace, Mr. BOB Sunday Hyphy Horror: DJs Franzen and SF guest Monday Closed Tuesday Halloween party: Funkmaster Flex, costume contest, OPM-Ice Link watch prizes Wednesday 97.5’s Jade hosts DJs Franzen, Big D, Chris DeJesus; reggaeton/Latin DJs Leo, Majesty
  6. There are a lot of factors at work: it's off Strip, there's no casino/hotel attached, it's house in a hip-hop town and some other things I can't get into. But it will be sad to see it go. I think everyone in the industry would agree that Ice has been the consistent leader for bringing in fantastic talent.
  7. Ice won't be closing this Saturday, however there are conflicting rumors/stories about when it will close. The most optimistic of them have spring 2007. As Vegasguy wrote, some key people from Ice are now involved with Jet, and both they and Light Group's Andrew Witner (as well as Jet's Steven Lockwood) are working to give house a bigger play there.
  8. If you're a woman, get local ID and you'll get into most clubs free. Locals nights Body English -- Sunday Cherry -- Thursday Club Rio -- Thursday Empire Ballroom -- Thursday Foundation Room -- Monday (not really free for locals but the only night it's open to the public) Ghostbar -- Tuesday Jet -- Monday Krave -- Sunday Light -- Sunday Moon/Playboy -- Sunday Pure -- Tuesday Risque -- Sunday Tabu -- Wednesday Tangerine -- Wednesday Tao -- Wednesday Tryst -- Thursday
  9. There's also an after-hours at Seamless strip joint. They move the dancers into a back room at around 3 or 4 a.m. The DJs are Ikon, Exodus, Hollywood, Inferno, Brian Hart, Sheri Strawberry and Mikey Swift. Another DJ at Drai's is Chris Aurelius.
  10. Regarding the Moon/Playboy party, that will be Sunday, Oct. 29. There's a new website up (a snazzy one, too) for all the Palms' clubs at http://las-vegas.n9negroup.com/index.cfm?page=main.
  11. Whoever wrote that article on the hotel blog obviously doesn't know the crowd that Rehab draws. It's not budget-conscious travelers. While a price increase in hotel rooms might affect some people, there will still be plenty of folks who pony it up. Hell, I've talked with people who have flown in from LA in their OWN plane to hit Rehab. Besides which, Rehab is open to the public and if people want to save money, they can stay at Alexis or anywhere else (Budget Suites, anyone?) and still go to the party.
  12. For Tao on Friday, Oct. 27, it's going to be a regular night. The lineup is DJs Jason Lema, Galeano, Cyberkid, Reach. Cover $20, local ladies always free. Moon and Playboy will be having a joint Halloween Party with free champagne for ladies in costume until midnight. Cover charge is $20, $20 lower than the regular cover, and provides access to both clubs.
  13. I'm the associate editor for the Las Vegas Weekly, and in charge of our nightlife coverage.
  14. Rumjungle in Mandalay Bay is having its Black Ball with prizes for best fetish and/or fantasy lingerie. DJs Hollywood and Trexx are spinning at Seamless after-hours. Plastik Funk is playing Tabu. (Those two aren't costume parties, but oh well) And Tera Patrick and her Teravision Girls will be hosting Tao's party.
