  5. aheem, i beg to differ checkout the start of his set on this CD: http://www.discogs.com/release/299166 when he's mixin in "when i close my eyes" after "Telefunky" you can easily tell he's tryin to speed up one of the tracks up to point. Its not poorly done since its LIVE as opposed to the majority of CDs that are basically mixed on protools.
  6. and? dood, the majority of the crowd was either dancin or tryin to move about in that PACKED house. if you're a tru fan of DC then you'd know how he himself in his crazy chitown cut n paste style that he himself f's up the mixes but still gets the people dancin

Tuesday February 13th, 2007 Valentine's Day Special: The return of the seductive duo... EDISON GEM aka ORION & JADIS (myspace.com/orionjadis, LA) "You never know how things are going to end up - you can just feel them beginning. You move blindly searching for what matters, and until it smacks you in the face, you won't know what it is." ~Jadis The end of one thing is often the beginning of another. Edison Gem are proof positive that destruction can double as a form of creation. The production team, a collaborative effort between Orion and Jadis, has focused the energy borne of the failure of their relationship into an inspired mélange of expression, class, and dancefloor sensibility. Propelled by passion and groove, the efforts of the two are seething with synergy and depth. Both classically trained, they manage to seamlessly fuse raw emotion with the consummate articulations of seasoned artistry. Jadis' ethereal voice gives a haunting edge to Orion's vast pastiches of tense rhythm and timeless melodic arrangements with breathtaking result. After a one-year hiatus following their breakup, they both felt the pull of their strong artistic rapport and began working together again. "I tried working with other singers, but at the end of the day it boils down to finding that spark between people that makes something great, and its just not that easy to find," says Orion. "But we've got it, and we know it, and its what we're all about with our music." Jadis adds, "We had built something together that had been unique and to lose each other would mean starting completely over from square one. Neither of us was willing or patient enough to do that." Orion and Jadis, both originally from North Carolina, are currently operating out of Los Angeles. Orion has garnered attention and 12" vinyl releases from labels such as LTJ Bukems Good Looking Records, Subtitles Music (with Jadis), Breakbeat Science, Fokuz, Gamma Ray, and others. Edison Gem (named after the first mass-produced gramophone) are currently finishing up their first album and playing select dates around the US. Written by Andy Abang CHRISTIAN BRUNA (50/50 Prod., Camouflage, Christianbruna.com) When looking back at the history and growth of New York City Drum N Bass there is one artist that stands above and beyond and will always be associated with it's development and glory. This Native New Yorker straight out of Queens holds a heavy weight belt of 10 years and can be considered a king of the jungle for his accomplishments and dj mastery. Christian Bruna stretches far and wide and is globally known as the father of Camouflage NYC. From 1997 to 2007 Camouflage has been rolling right every Tuesday night. Exactly Magazine STRIFE (Driven AM, dj-strife.com, Sister NYC) Music is her life. Drum and Bass is her passion. Erica Munday, A.K.A. DJ Strife, has had a love for music for as long as she can remember. Its that feeling that when you close your eyes and simply listenthe whole world disappears. Strifes involvement in the U.S. underground music scene started back in 1994 when she was only 14 and attended her first rave. After this one night she knew right then that this music was something that truly touched her soul and would be a part of her life forever. She soon thereafter was going to every event on the east coast that she could, which eventually lead her to her next natural steppromoting. She started promoting for one of the largest event companies on the east coast, Park Rave Maddness. And by the time she was 16 she had made enough contacts in the scene and wanted to continue going forward by learning how to DJ to be that person that controlled the crowds inner feelings by taking you on a journey with the music they wove together. At first by playing fast-paced Hard Trance and Hard Acid music that got the crowd going, but eventually at 19 while in college in New York for Audio Recording, switched to her growing love for Drum and Bass. 2003 brought the way of House DJ, Fame and his Simply Bangin Productions which merged Strife and Fame together for combined efforts in weekly events in NYC. By joining a night of House and Drum and Bass music this allowed them to bring both styles of music together in one place. Also in 2003 Strife got linked up with all female crew Sister NYC (the NYC chapter of successful San Francisco group). Right away this combination of all genre woman DJs and MCs connected with her, and knew together they could really make a dent in furthering woman and their place in Electronic music. Being interviewed for Los Angeles collective Technotreffs nationally distributed Girls of Techno DVD also gave her a chance to speak her mind on the empowerment on being a female DJ. Hosting and playing at events all the way from New York to Miami to Brazil to Germany to London and back again, Strife continues to push the Drum and Bass sound that she strives for everyone to hear and feel. Strife's flow of Liquid Drum and Bass sounds infused with Brazillian flavor and vocal tunes make her track selection stream together with each blended mix. As well as being endorsed by keyboard company Korg, Strife has performed all over nationally and internationally at such events as the DEMF, Detroit Electronic Music Festival, at renowned UK monthlies "Therapy Sessions" & Metric, and touring in Brazil and Germany alongside heavyweights such as High Contrast, Bad Company, Dylan, Loxy, & B Key, Patife, Andy, Drumagick, and Mickey Finn. In addition, she has taken part at conventions in Nashville, TN for the NAMM show, at Madison Square Garden in her residence of NY for product demos, and in Miami for the WMC, Winter Music Conference, with Sister USA. ETZI (Sushi-Bass, Camouflage, Fusion, Djetzi.com) Tommy Etzi aka ETZI began playing records in the late 90’s at local after-hours and underground parties in his hometown, rust belt city, Pittsburgh, PA. Etzi then moved to Brooklyn, New York to complete his college education. Being diverse and having an open mind he continued to expand his musical influences and taste. Etzi’s love for electronic music pushes him to presently play out as a house and drum&bass dj. His house sound consists of a filter, funky, disco-tech, electro sound. Whereas his drum&bass consists of a techy, jump up, liquid funk sound. Etzi currently plays every Saturday night at his restaurant/bar party Sushi-Bass. He is also affiliated and is a weekly house resident dj at Camouflage, one of NYC's longest running 21 and up drum&bass parties to date. Etzi has a key track selection and a clean style of mixing. Etzi always sustains the positive vibe. Guest DJ's upstairs: Classics, 80's, Electro, House and more...
