Jobs That Cause the Most Headaches

Recommended Posts

By Cathryn Conroy, CompuServe News Editor

You think YOUR job is a real headache. Turns out that those who have it the worst--as measured in terms of their aching heads--are those who have to deal with rude customers, terrible traffic, hot weather, and whining kids. The Dallas Morning News reports that a recent survey of more than 5,000 people in 13 professions measured who got the most headaches on the job and why. First, the 13 jobs were arbitrarily chosen, but KRC Research and Consulting, the New York firm that conducted the survey for Excedrin, picked professions that have traditionally been known to cause headaches. Of these 13, the job that had the most headaches was: physician. Some 55 percent of the doctors surveyed reported they suffered weekday headaches. Ouch. What caused all this pain? Doctors say it's patients who don't take care for themselves, rude patients, and hypochondriacs.

Others whose jobs make them suffer weekday headaches are:

Accountants: 49 percent

Teachers: 47 percent

Librarians: 43 percent

Postal Workers: 43 percent

Bus and Truck Drivers: 42 percent

Construction Workers: 38 percent

Salespeople: 36 percent

Law Enforcement Officers: 35 percent

Farmers: 30 percent

Waiters/Waitresses: 28 percent

Homemakers With Children: 20 percent
