thats how it works when your in on the party.. abuse of promoter power to get yourself behind the decks..

but, w/ all due respect, lodi is one of the better nyc commercial house types i would say... i'd take him over tsettos or boris(not old school boris) in a second..

Ehh.. well perhaps I had heard them in their down times at Factory, but they definitely did not impress me the slightest bit back then.

back then trance was big and that's what they were into.. if you read some of the reviews from last friday, you will see most people enjoyed the music.. aluv only played a few records, johnny played a couple and lodi played the rest of the night.. he turned the roxy out last week.. he dropped sick tracks all night long.. maybe you should go hear him play this week insted of hating in all the roxy posts.. especially since you havnt heard him play since "back then" ..

Remember back in the days of luv and lodi sf fridays used to be the place to be.. Wish i could be there however I'll still be in italy.. But again best of luck to ya Joe!!!! glad to hear ya behind the decks again...

It is not abuse of promoter power when you have already had an established residency. Who cares why Luv and Lodi are back? It's a change from Mike Rizzo every week.

Abuse of promoter power would be putting SexyBabyD behind the wheels ( For the record that is NOT a knock at anyone, just an example )

Danwilson, I think it's Vicious on the Friday, November 22nd. He mentioned it on KTU a few weeks back.

AS for Joe Lodi. I wasn't too happy to see him on the flyer last week. I didn't really like his DJing at Factory. But last Friday, I definately liked what I heard from him.

I DUNNO BACK IN THE DAY AT SF FRIDAYS WIT LUV AND LODI IT WAS WEIRD THEY HAD ON AND OFF NIGHTS THEY WERE OK DJS

I THINK ROXY CAN FIND SOMEONE BETTER THEN JOE LODI FOR A WEEKLY RESIDENT OR WATEVER HE IS

I MEAN THE PROMOTERS ARE SMART BY GETTIN THEM BECAUSE ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO DONT REALLY KNOW ABOUT MUSIC WILL BE LIKE "OH HE IS THE DJ FROM SF FRIDAYS SO HE MUST BE GOOD"

BUT FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW AND WANNA HEAR GOOD ISH I THINK ROXY SHOULD FIND SOMEONE ELSE

BUT I GIVE LODI CREDIT HE THREW DOWN SOME SICK TRIBAL ALL NIGHT MAYBE HE IS GETTIN BETTER

TLC accepts applications for

New Makeover Show

Do you know anyone who needs a full fashion make-over and $5000 for shopping in the best stores and boutiques in town? TLC wants you and you need TLC to help your friend, wife/husband or sister/brother to look stylish.

Does your friend dress so badly that you’re ashamed to be seen out with them? Perhaps her skirts are too short and her tops too low? Are you horrified when you meet them in a bar for a night out or go shopping at the weekend? How would you describe their style: risqué, trashy, ‘slutty’, or far too sexy for their age? Are they squeezing into clothes two sizes too small? Do they dress like a clown and the laughing stock of your friends? If so, then please let us help!

We promise to transform your nominee from a fashion mistake to a total knock out!

Nominate someone in your life to undergo a full fashion makeover but remember to keep it a SECRET!

The BBC is producing a series of “What Not to Wear.’ We have the best fashion stylists in the business including make-up and hair and we are giving those nominated $5000 to change their look and possibly their life. We are looking for women between 25-50 in NYC all races and cultural backgrounds.

NOMINATE YOUR FRIEND NOW!

Applicant Rules

1. The show includes secret filming of the candidate initially, so for purposes of production and surprise, you must not tell the person you are nominating them. This is very important and nominators must abide by this rule.

2. You must send in some photos of your nominee in order to be considered.

3. Include as much information as possible about nominee e.g. profession, dress type (in a variety of situations)

4. Nominees must in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey areas.

Please note: application for the show and all information are available at

Sorry, You are the first Roxy Promoter that came to mind.

You know I didn't think about that.....

yea i mean, it basically is an abuse of power..

but at the same time, its not really to say that he's a bad dj or anything.. of the times i've seen him, i dont' recall him ever blatantly trainwrecking or anything like that.. mixing was pretty good.. track selection, same.. like i said, definetly better imo then tsettos or boris or the majority of nyc dj's who cater more toward the commercial side of things..

and he used to drop everytime- lustral(dumonde mix) alot which was always a plus in my book ;)

I guess you can look at it a couple ways. Like you said, at least the guys aren't a terrible duo who couldn't hold it down.

I would prolly do the same thing if I was in their shoes. You work hard at gettin a party started, you might as well reap the benefits. Also I live by the addage of if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

  • 2 weeks later...

Lodi has changed to hard progressive with techy influence, not even remotely similar to his trancey style back in the day.

What's upsetting is that, no matter who is resident at Roxy or guest at Roxy, people will always have something to say thats negative. From Lodi(local) to Sasha(international) not everyone is going to be satisfied, as long as they satisfy the majority, then they did their job. Oh well
