DWI In Other Countries !!!

Recommended Posts

Think losing your license for DWI in the USA... Consider the penalties of these other Countries..

AUSTRALIA --- Names of drivers are sent to the local newspaper and printed under the headline " Hes Drunk and In Jail "

SOUTH AFRICA --- A 10 year prison sentense or the equivalent of a $10,000.00 Fine... Or Both

FINLAND/SWITZERLAND --- Automatic Jail for one year at HARD LABOR...

COSTA RICA --- Police Remove License plates from car...

TURKEY --- Drunk driver is take 20 miles from town by police and forced to walk back under escort.

POLAND --- Jail and fine, Forced to attend political lectures...

SOVIET UNION --- License revoked for life...

BULGARIA --- For a second conviction, Life revoked by execution...

EL SALVADOR --- For a first offense, Life revoked by firing squad...

MALASIA --- Driver is jailed and if he is married... His wife is jailed also...

Just figured I would pass on this interesting, yet useless information...

as a matter of fact, i believe almost every single other country out there have harsher penalties for DWI and other shit like drug possession.

the difference? the law is actually followed here....if you get pulled over and you're drunk (over the legal limit), the cop isn't gonna be like "alrighty drive home safe" he's not gonna cut you a break....you WILL get a DWI.

in other countries you basically bribe the cop and/or prosecutor and pay some fine instead and nothing's done. that's if you even get caught in the first place. in most other countries the cops don't pull you over like they do here....they're usually standing on the side of the road and wave for you to pull over if they want you to.

what's good having a law if it's not enforced? how many people you think die by firing squad in fuckin el salvador for driving drunk each year? probably zero.

true story. few summers ago visiting friends in Ukraine, needless to say a lot of drinking was invloved. we're getting home from a club swirving all over the road a cop pulls us over and a next conversation takes place.

cop: breaking the law aren't we?

friend: I have a permission sir!

cop: from who?

friend: mazeppa (appears on ukrainian money, equivalent to about 2 dollars)

cop: drive carefully!

friend: wait I'll give you one more to get us home with the sirens on.

I couldn't believe my own eyes and ears. the cop actually escorted us all the way home with the sirens turned on. hilarious
