johnnymatrix11
does anyone here have any knowledge about Boston DJ's ? I know DT is DA BOMB. but I am busting my ballz trying to book him, and from what I have heard, just because you have a nice venu and the $$$ to spend, it does not guarantee he will play. which is a bummer, because i know the ROxy would sellout ( www.roxyplex.com ) and on top of that everyone would just plain have fun. !!!!!!I am actually from upstate (ALBANY REPRESENT ), but not so many people have a taste for techno, house, trance or anything of the like but from being in Boston for so long ya kinda have to get used to it if you are looking for any kind of scene.Anywayz, keep the ideas coming people, this is what I am looking for. And if ya ever want to see what the parties are like, especially the ones that I throw (with the help of some friends of course ), check out these links below...peace...Johnnyhttp://www.clubvibes.com/forum/topic.asp?Topic_ID=149677&Forum_ID=29&city=12http://www.djmanolo.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=001533
johnnymatrix11
another thing you have to think about is that LANSDOWNE ST. (those bastards)has contracts with a lot of the big dawgs. so we are looking for headliners with good names that aren't in some kind of contractual agreement at the moment. nycchic24
i am originally from boston. (i am gatorgirl on the manolo board. )and when i lived in boston i used to go to the roxy and avalon quite frequently I agree that DT would sell out, but the "normal" saturday roxy crowd would be he would sell out only bc he normally doesntn play anywhere in boston (if ever...??) I"m up here in Albany too (troy actually) so i know your pain. Being a DJ around here SUCKS because the scene is half-assed at best. It's not too hard to get big name party-style DJ's such as Joeski or Onionz up and around places like this or maybe even around boston... but club DJ's like DT are much harder. JP does sneaky pete's occasionally, but i guess that's b/c the crowd will respond well to that. DT would smack someone if he had to use that Rane 24z mixer they've got in there though where are you throwing the party? here or in boston? I agree the saturday Roxy crowd can be a bit much to swallow, however, if I by some miracle got the deal, it wouldnt be for a saturday night, it'd be for one of my thursday parties, called BASS, or Boston All-Star Sessions. I just did an 8man Dj Battle put together with the help of Manny ( manolo ) which did not bring the typical juicehead joeybagadonuts crowd, but rather an eclectic mixture of Bostons finest club-goers. Last october I brought 2 of Bostons finest DJ's to sneaky petes for a show. Manolo & Chris P. played the KING OF CLUBS party. Do you Billy kennedy ? He's the promotions director @ NSP and took care of business on the ALbany end of things, He usually brings some good DJ's around, but Albany peeps really dont have the taste for techno. Most of my parties are in Boston, but I am trying to branch out. you from upstate or just go to school or something ???

Home is long island.looks like i'll be here another couple of years. Yeah i've heard of all this stuff but i've stayed away from sneaky pete's, primarily because they mix hiphop with house and that's just not my flavor. The crowd here doesn't support "house music" in general, probably because the most they've heard of it are the big commercial hits and such. Boston's got a flavor for it at least, and having large clubs helps I lived in mass most of my life, Hopkinton where the Boston marathon starts. partied at axis and avalon before but that was a while ago. the whole 2am thing really crimped my style
