mattm2o
 FUCK THE FUCKING FUCKERS:mad:  God Damned Bastards To HellI walk outside Discotheque around 3:30 to notice my car was towed by the NYPD. OK OK no big deal I ask the cop infront of the club where it was and he told me "38th and 12th". So I walk from 19th and 5th all the was to 38th and 12th to the impound pier.I walk in and tell them 2002 Ford Expedition and they tell me it's not there. So they then tell me nocar in my name is there so I tell them the car is in my fathers name because he had my car and I had his on thursday. Ok so they then pull the info an tell me it's there. The cashier call my name and she asks me how I want to pay and I said "Credit Card" she then tells me that "you can only pay with a credit card if it's the owner of the car's card and they had to be present". OK now thats great my Dad was in Vermont with my mother 5 hours away! They wouldent even let my father charge it over the phone because they told me they needed him there in personI look at my watch and it's now 5:00! So I call my friends to see If they could drive in to the city with some cash. I had 50 dollars and My company credit card and my personal credit card. My debit card was in the car and sinse the car wasent registered to me I wasent allowed access to the car:mad: The 2 friends I would trust driving into the city were both away on vacation so now Im really fucked! I call my parents collect (my cell phone died and I couldnt get the charger from the car) in Vermont now to see if they could wire me the money and they called westen union and they wouldent let them because they were out of the state and they had to be home to do it due to their security purposes. So now it's 7am I call my dad again and he told me that I had to wait till 9am go to a fleet bank and show my licence and they would let me make a withdrawal on his account(The 2 banks I use have do not have any branches in Manhattan). The nearest fleet branch to where I was 60th street. So I walked all the way there, no cabs on the west side highway to be found. I get there around 8am and there is no Fleet Bank at that address now the closest one to where I was now was Penn Plaza on 34th street. So I walked all the way to Penn Plaza from 60th street! Around 9am I get there tell them my situation a half hour later after calling their national office they let me take the money out! I hop in a cab back to the fucking impound pier and now have 20 people online infront of me:mad: It finally dawns on me that I was supposed to be in my office on Long Island at 9am it's now 10:15am and nobody in my office knows where I am. At 11AM I pay them the cash and they escort me to the car. I leave the Impound Pier at 11:30 and pulled into my Driveway on Long Island at 1pm took a shower and made it to work by 2pm! No one at my office even noticed I wasent there, they thought I was out with a client:D I left work at 6pm got home around 6:45 and went right to bed! And I just woke up at 9:30AM!I just turned my cellphone on and I have 32 voice mail messages! Damn them at the Impond Pier for not letting me charge my phone:mad: So if your in the city NEVER LEAVE YOUR DEBIT CARD IN THE CAR! You may not be able to use when you really need it! cintron
I FEEL your pain dude.Way back when, when CP had the meetup at America, it was my first time meeting everyone. After i left the meetup, I found out my car got towed. DAMN what a dent that took out of my wallet. After driving down from Albany with carl, only catching the final hour of the meetup before people got kicked out, going through a 3 hour extravaganza with the car being towed, finally getting it back and heading to Vinyl only to find out Danny was sick and the substitutes were good but i wasn't feeling it...heading back to carl's place around 5am to crash. Driving back up to Albany at noon... checking CP when we arrive to find out at 5:15 Danny showed up and said he was feeling it and performed the rest of the night...Carl just said "man, let's just forget this weekend ever happened."SO I FEEL YOUR PAIN. NYC Towing SUCKS. Ruthless bastards.

sassa
try paying over $500 in parking tickets...in places that supposedly are safe with the signs..then you see another sign a bit farther and the fucking cop is telling you that's why you get a ticket... ....in battery park twice, and once in the east village...these are some fucked up weekends though on here, i feel sorry for you guys.... wallflour
Safest bet is to park in a garage, but if you want to take the chance,Look for the streets with the alternate side parking rules signsThose are usually ok at night. BUT READ THE SIGNS!There are many in that area west of 6th Ave (so you might have to walk a bit). Usually there are many spots vacated on the side being cleaned at 8:30 am the next morning. jessie739
Yeah if you read the sign when yuo walk in to pay at the cashiers booth..it tells you all the places you should not park and that you will get towed....then it gives you proper parking Ave's and Streets...SUCKS!!!!!SORRY TO HEAR IT! darkfyre
mattm2o ,i totally feel your pain. i've never actually had the misfortune of having my car towed in new york, but its happened to me elsewhere and its no fun no matter where it is. I was thinking the other day, and I realized that all the the legal problems that I have ever had in my life have had to do with operating my vehicle - not paying parking tickets on time and getting a court summons, etc.. it's almost like a crime to drive or something. and don't anybody tell me to park in the f'king garages in new york. the parking tax is like 18.25%!!! which is on top of the already inflated prices they charge... wtf?? you'd think that the city makes enough money off of tickets and towings that it wouldnt have to make it so expensive to park legitimately. my solution is just to be a lot more observant of the parking signs, and not to cut corners when it comes to parking legally (ie, making sure i dont park only 4-5 feet from a hydrant when it should be 15 feet). sometimes i end up having to walk a couple extra blocks, but its worth not getting a ticket.. berniec
Originally posted by tim58 where is the closest place to arc for paid parking? i didn't see anything close by never seen any around there...i usually just park on the street, never had a problem finding parking IF you read the signs carefully.... cwa
i think all the suburbanites learn the hard way whether it is a $110 ticket or even worst getting towed! After once you learn very well how to read parking signs and that only one sign is necessary for the whole street so check the corner.btw....at the cashier in discoteque there is a sign that says there is no parking on 19th st. your car will probably get towed...
