vicman Posted March 23 Report Share Posted March 23 i'm back. other crackheads wil follow. in brief, and i will expand on it throughout the week, is the following:1. this is why i still like going to clubs. you all that didnt go this year must plan accordingly next year.my party of the conference: S&D @ Space w/ Porter, Zabiela opening up and Sander and Lawler @ the terrace: OMFG! forget the boring buildup which is my main complaint of prog dj's playing extended sets, after zabiela tore shit up, sasha came on and "built it up for an hour" but the remaining 8 hours was non stop and relentless. lawler finished it off at the terrace from 10 to 12.my close second party of the conference: Tronic. Christian Varela, Adam Beyer, Marco Bailey, Umek, Matteo Murphy and Donald Glaude kicked my ass big time and i enjoyed every second of it.my #3 party of the conference: bedrock @ nerve. got in for free and van m, digweed and fortier just banged it out, no holds barred.biggest letdown: dave seaman no show @ wednesday's pool party.second biggest letdown: Opium Garden for Hooj. very nice club architecturally but sucked big time for Hooj. Zabiela, Sander and Tom Middleton made it worth while though.i now give even more respect to: James Zabiela. super cool kid. looks like a dork, but super cool walking around the club in sneakers, baggy jeans and a regular t-shirt and stopping to talk to anyone that wanted to give him props. saw him two times and the two times were just AMAZING. pics to follow.non club highlight of the conference: just hanging oiut with all the cp'ers and other people from other boards.tinybf--> taking dj whoring to levels unknown to mankind.shady & co.--> you guys are a riot.teamj5--> he might be a punk on the boards but he can definitely hang w/ the best...but he's still a punk.& the miami contingentjoeygk-->being stuck in ohio hasnt taken the crackhead out of you.digital7-->"the system is down"flyingfestoon-->super hostessess, thanks for the hospitality for the preparties well....more to come in the upcoming days. BTW, a few words of advice... if they don't let you into VIP on the terrace...just jump the barracade and act like you belong there - heheMost phenominal night of music - No brainer here.... Paul Van Dyk at Space. I can't decide which set was better '02 or '03. He was scheduled to spin only 4 hours but he surprised us with a 2 hour encore! I have never seen PvD so animated. He was jumping up & down, dancing, smiling.... so into the crowd. PDiddy (not to be confused with PGiddy hehe ) was rockin' out in the booth LOL PvD dropped a remix of one of his songs at Ultra (another phenominal set from him btw!) but I don't remember if he dropped it at Space as well.Best drink at Wet Willies - Call a Cab Best free party - Toss up between the Bedrock party and one of Thump Radio's Surf Comber parties w/ D:Fuse, Saeed & Palash, Sean Cusick.... its nice to chill in a pool while listening to some awesome beats!!Saw Underworld & JunkieXL at Ultra. WOW!!! Live pa/djs sets rock! JunkieXL was awesome to watch. He was all over the place! I took a ton of pics... had to use disposable cameras because my digital camera crapped out on me. Blah... Will develop those soon.Mako - thanks for the ride. It was really good to see, albeit briefly! Wish you had better luck this week w/ parties!Vic - thanks for spotting Zabelia for me Glad we got to party a little bit while in Miami! I was so psyched to find you at 11 am on the terrace at space! Rule of thumb, don't stay up for 24 hours killing three eightballs if you plan on going out the next night. I had to leave at 5:00. Zabiela did tear it up, though.Caught Superchumbo and Trendroid at Red. That was a killer little party.Deep Dish owned Space on Saturday night. Too bad I had to leave at 5:30 to get back to the hotel to catch my flight.I forgot where else I went. I am definitely going again next year. Missed most of the parties I wanted to go to, but had fun at those I did go to.. I was definitely in no shape to PARTY at WMC but I'm still glad I went..Good seeing ya Gina I missed out on Wet Willies once again.. All the pool (and puddle) parties were very chill and you could talk to people, interact with the DJs and producers and really get a good vibe. I didn't really get into any of my nights out because I really didn't enjoy any of the clubs. The only one I liked was Spi Club - plenty of room, great sound, AC (!!!) and a real Buzz-like vibe.Best moments:Infusion @ Level was phenomenal!!! I've never seen energy like that before. The live set was amazing and those guys worked their asses off...you could feel it in the crowd too. Sadly that was my most disappointing night too bc of all the DJs that were cancelled, but Infusion really made up for it.Porter & Zabiela: the clown around kids @ Sabor. Very intimate setting (the dj booth looked like a concierge desk). The fuckers were going t 2x2 and clowning around the whole time. Porter was wearing funky hats while Zabiela was distracting him and dancing all freaky. Sasha is the man. He just does something different. Phenomenal artist.Worst moments:Jody, Jody, Jody! Holy crap! This guy can't put two songs together. Not once. not once in the whole 2 hour set did he mix a fuckin thing right.Diggers not knowing how to use the mixer at Space and listening to the same fucking vocal loop for 20 goddamn minutes. All around Diggers was disappointing. I heard he got better later on, but it was too late for me.Nerve is a rat hole.
