Reason is $300.

Hypothetically, I think you would need copies of the three install discs it comes with (it asks you to put in each for verification) plus a valid license key. Hypothetically, if you know anyone with a copy, you could copy the discs without them knowing it and steal their license key. Obviously, during the install process, you would select that you DON'T want to register the software with Propellerheads (the developers of Reason).

Another option, hypothetically, would be to find a cracked copy. I have no idea where, though.

Of course, these are all hypothetical answers. I condone pirating of music and certain overpriced software from big companies such as Microsoft, but I think Reason is so reasonably (pun intended) priced that my #1 stance is that $300 is totally worth it. But that's not to say that I keep my Reason discs under lock and key where they couldn't be stolen by someone who really wanted a copy for let's say "evaluation purposes".

thank you for your strictly hypothetical answer to my hypothetical question. i, too, think that reason is a quality program worth it's price tag, but for someone who would like to simply "evaluate" it, it's a bit much.

where did you say you lived again?
