atomicapples
well this story has nothing to do with the title...so a friend of mine got married today...he asked me to go a while back, but i told him let me know when the time comes... yada yada yada...so i paid no care to the situation, and was just like if i get a invite ill go, if not, i wont go... so i never got an invite... so i didnt go...then since i didnt go, the bestman called me and asked me why i wasnt here, and another friend told me he was there, and ask if i knew the groom... blah blah blah... then i told them, if i didnt get a invite i wont go.now its like 11:00... a friend of mine calls me and ask if i wanted to go to his afterparty at his new house, then i was like why? i wasnt even invited to his wedding, why should go...weird isnt it? Ronin
my brother got married 2 weeks ago and his wife did the same thing. Basically she had an after party at the club my brother bounces at and invited all the ppl she didnt invite to the wedding. mad tacky, but it was to cut costs at the reception. sassa
Originally posted by linabina ive never heard of a $50 plate... try more like $100-200 why do people spend so much on a wedding............i don't want to spend more than 5K for mine...maybe that's unrealistic, but it's something that happens in ONE DAY. and then it's over. and then you're left with a pile of bills. that's bullshit..i'd rather spend money on the honeymoon travelling and living it up.........i dunno........ covetoys
Originally posted by linabina ive never heard of a $50 plate... try more like $100-200 agreed! My wedding cost me about $165 per person to be there and that was over seven years ago! Usually you get real krappy gifts, like crystal candlesticks or blankets that say "love" on them.Don't ever expect to make more money than spent unless you decide to invite some oil or casino tycoons!Trust me. It cost me over $30K and we ended up with about $6000 in cash and $4000 in crappy gifts.so not getting married again!

fearlesss
Originally posted by linabina ive never heard of a $50 plate... try more like $100-200 Wow, I really would like to know where some1 is paying $100-200. I used to do wedding parties and like an 6oz steak meal was 60 tops. I worked at the country club where the US open is being held so it's not cheap. The Palmer house downtown is not even 100 bucks a plate. I have had weddings were it reached the 200 mark but those were not the norm. But I think I am looking at a different way When I think cost pe plate it's meal plus apps, and bar. and bar for 4 hours was only 125 for house. I always made a killing on the bar cause it jump to about 250 for prem (depending). But I was also willing to make deals. The worst is to bring in your own wine. I had 15-20 corking per bottle. thats pure profit. All I got to say is
mattm2o
Only in NY do people drop that much on a wedding!People would die in other parts of the country If they knew how much people spend on weddings here. While a friend of mine was on vaction, I did some bookings for his DJ company, one bride wanted 3 DJ's playing 3 seprate styles of music in 3 different rooms. On top of that she wanted a classical Pianist to play for her cocktail hour. Her bill from the entertainment company alone is over 10 Grand:eek:
