I went to a lounge a few weeks ago where it was 80's night. I didn't know one goddam song. The shit they play at those 80s clubs is like "underground" 80's music. OMG, and the way they dance to that shit is rediculous. Me and my friends were makin fun of people all night.:blown:

it! THE 80's ARE OVER YOU AGING

HIPSTER! STOP PLAYING THE CURE!

snort-fart.

Well actually you hooch lots of electronica and

dance music comes from the 80’s. You have

synth pop and electro (Old electro

like kraftwerk and Afrika Bambaataa) to

thank for lots of stuff.. You should

watch a movie called "Twenty four hour

party people" to see what I’m talking about

just for an example…

TWO CASES:

(There are hundreds)

Joy division went on to become New Order

who later worked in the studio with the Happy Mondays

who went on to influence an entire generation

of Pill popping ravers at Hacienda where some

of the VERY FIRST Acid house was ever played..

Like wise Groups like Kraftwerk where influencing House

jocks in Detroit to create more TECH like sounds and thus

TECHNO was born…

There’s a logical progression to dance music

that has a direct correlation with 80’s music.

Why do you think so many of today’s artists

in everything from Electro-clash (A HUGE

80’s influenced sound) To prog to Trance

to house and techno do remixes of 80’s tracks?

KNOW YOUR ROOTS HOOCH!

Can it! Someone in the club scene

saying they hate 80’s music is like

someone that likes Drum and Bass saying they

hate Dub and Reggae. It sounds IGNANT YO!

Mr. Mugwump I totally agree with you. I personally don't hate 80's music either. But I don't seek it either. I always like something new. But all the electronic stuff is defenitly rooted back then. Your Africa Bambataa statement is so so true. And breaking and popping still seen today in dance club culture.

Music from the 80s is the shit. New Wave has got to be one of the best genres ever invented (I just don't know how they could take themselves so seriously). But is it just me or does anyone else hate freestyle?? Not only does it have little to no musical value, but how did it officially become the theme music of juiceheads and assholes? If I'm not mistaken, freestyle was originally a latin thing, no? Oh well, just felt like ranting. :D

P.S. Blue Monday.....
