Your father's father (your grandfather, say John) and his brother (your grandfather's brother, say Joe) Your grandfather's son is your dad. your grandfather's brother (joe) has a child (your dad's cousin)Those cousins of your dad have children, and they're your cousin's once removed...I did a diagram to understand this.
