If you have a Bally's gym near you, they'll hire you and let you work 3 months without a certification. But my experience with them is more like pushing their PT's to do sales.

ace will get you into places like ballys, most upscale clubs will look for something better such as cscs(you need a college degree for that) nsca-cpt(no degree needed) and NASM(most clinical of them all, and you will need a degree to take it)

again for most places, ace or similar will be enough..

I have IFPA and I work at Bally's...I think they accept a lot of diff ones. We do have to push sales but they also help. It's a great job if u have another job or school, I schedule appt's around my classes.:)

You don't need a degree to get the NASM CPT certification, but you will need it for their upper level verts, like Performance Enhancement Specialist. Prepare to unlearn a lot of the gym myths you learned previously, because as previously stated, it's very clinical.

ACE only offers certification exams 4 times a year, the next one is in May. It's widely recognized worldwide, but not as renowned as it used to be.

Go with either NASM or NSCA for the CPT exams (Certified personal trainer). in my experience, they're the certs that most reputable gym companies (Equinox, NY Health & Raquet, Sports Clubs LA, 24HR Fitness) look for.
