marksimons
you all ignored this when talking about it in another thread, so I'll post it here, for it's own topicArron McGrueder is a black man who draws the boondocks cartoon, this is what he had to say about Condoleezza Rice, anyone got any comments? or care to explain how he should should shuttup and be happy that condi and colin do the bidding of their white masters because it shows just how far black people have come in American society..."I don't like Condoleezza Rice because she's part of this oil cabal that's now in the White House," McGruder said, as ABF hosts Armstrong Williams and Juan Williams looked on. "I don't like her because she's a murderer," the cartoonist announced. The charged drew immediate condemnation from Armstrong Williams, who complained, "That is totally out of line to say she's a murderer."Unfazed, McGruder repeated the accusation, stretching out his words, "S-h-e'-s a m-u-r-d-e-r-e-r.""Let's put aside the fact that she's affiliated with oil companies that murder people in Nigeria," the cartoonist said. "We can discuss just this illegal Iraq war, the slaughtering of innocent people and the fact that she's one of the big hawks of the administration."I don't see where this is even a point of contention," he insisted. At that point cohost Juan Williams asked [civil-rights leader Julian Bond, also a guest on the program] if he supported McGruder's contention."I generally agree with his politics 100 percent and I think he explained himself well," the NAACP chief said. I think you're wrong and I think you shouldn't talk about something you don't know. because some CARTOONIST?!?!? makes wild speculative claims about not liking someone and he happens to be black his opinion matters more than someone who happens to be white? We're supposed to snap too attention when some Artist speaks? Or cause some Famous black guy speaks? cMon simmons if the vanguard of your arguments are Cartoonists and Saterists you're out of your league. marksimons
I don't think we've argued about the merits of cartoonists or satarists in representing the voices of the average person.satarists, very important.how many of you have read Candide by Voltaire, one of the all time classics of satire?
