jamiroguy1
Leak: U.S. knew of Sept. 11 plansWASHINGTON, April 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. administration knew of al-Qaida plans to target buildings with planes months before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, a former FBI translator claims.Sibel Edmonds, a former translator for the FBI with top-secret security clearance says she spent three hours giving testimony to the panel investigating the attacks, and told Britain's Independent Friday information was circulating within the FBI in the spring and summer of 2001 an attack using aircraft was months away and the terrorists were in place. She rejected national security adviser Condoleezza Rice's claim there was no such knowledge as "an outrageous lie."The newspaper said the Bush administration has sought to silence her and has obtained a gag order from a court by citing the rarely used "state secrets privilege."The 33-year-old a Turkish-American woman who speaks Azerbaijani, Farsi, Turkish and English said she gave her evidence in Washington Feb. 11."I gave (the commission) details of specific investigation files, the specific dates, specific target information, specific managers in charge of the investigation. I gave them everything so that they could go back and follow up. This is not hearsay. These are things that are documented. These things can be established very easily."http://www.washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20040402-064359-3845r.htm
jamiroguy1
This is explosive. I'm waiting for the administration to begin to discredit her and charge her that her attacks are politically motivated. So far the response has been a "gag order",

So far the response has been a "gag order", There's more to this story......Why is she coming forward now?She was a translator and the document she says she saw weren't translated yet.... http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/10/25/60minutes/main526954.shtml(CBS) This is the story of hundreds, if not thousands, of foreign language documents that the FBI neglected to translate before and after the Sept.11 attacks because of problems in its language department - documents that detailed what the FBI heard on wiretaps and learned during interrogations of suspected terrorists. cintron
it's easy to say "we knew of plans to attack buildings with planes". We already knew that the FBI and CIA both had large amounts of pieces of the puzzle, but having lots of pieces doesn't mean shit if they're not easy to assemble...and knowing of plans to use planes to attack buildings is NOT the same as knowing when, where and with what.In case none of you idiots noticed, the united states has a lot of fucking buildings. jamiroguy1
Lawyers try to gag FBI worker over 9/11The Bush administration will today seek to prevent a former FBI translator from providing evidence about 11 September intelligence failures to a group of relatives and survivors who have accused international banks and officials of aiding al-Qa'ida.Sibel Edmonds was subpoenaed by a law firm representing more than 500 family members and survivors of the attacks to testify that she had seen information proving there was considerable evidence before September 2001 that al-Qa'ida was planning to strike the US with aircraft. The lawyers made their demand after reading comments Mrs Edmonds had made to The Independent. But the US Justice Department is seeking to stop her from testifying, citing the rarely used "state secrets privilege". Today in a federal court in Washington, senior government lawyers will try to gag Mrs Edmonds, claiming that disclosure of her evidence "would cause serious damage to the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States".Full articlehttp://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/story.jsp?story=515270
sobeton
she should be able to testify. the families and survivors 9/11, should have the right to know what exactly she knows. if it's a matter of national security, then let her testify and seal the records pending review from the courts. how on earth can you seek an order to bar her from testifying; when you’re not even sure what she knows? there's something rotten in the state of Denmark.. She actually did testify to part of the 9/11 commission in non public testimony. The gov't is keeping her from testifying to the firm representing the victims families under threat that she'll be sent to jail if she does. But yeah, I agree with you... she should be allowed to testify to what she knows. Yep... Anything Bush can do to prevent the truth from coming out. A gag order is nothing more than his own admittal that he knew.
