lol... you know i really didn't think that my post would cause so much commotion! Listen i can't say i don't agree with part of what a lot of you said... but there is some hip-hop that's just good to shake ur ass to. I LOVE house and trance music! Sasha and Digweed are one of my favorite DJ's... but does house portray anything meaningful? Not for nothing but i remember listening to house when i was TRIPPING ON EXTACY!!! House music has a lot of associations with drugs, and ANYONE who's truly in the house scene and club scene knows what i'm talking about... That's all something i USED to do when i was 16, i still do love listening to the music though, my whole point is that house and trance barely even have words, so what's the meaning in it? It has ill beats and makes you want to dance, right? What the hell do you think a lot of hip-hop is about... Shakin it. And i will agree that A LOT of hip-hop is REDICULOUS and they say the STUPIDEST ish... but not all! The Usher song "Yeah" is SICK!!!! even if you didn't like hip-hop how could you not wanna move to that song? it has such a trance like sounce with the horns or whatever that background sound is... Britney Spears' "Toxic" another sick song.... so as much as i do agree with a lot of you, let's just agree to disagree....:box: :box:

Its great to see a new show that actually plays some good Hip-Hop as apposed to all the processed crap. Don't get me wrong I love music... But you have to agree that House, Trance and a lot of electronic music gets no play on NY radio stations. NY is supposed to be a huge party city yet the only times you hear good underground dance is at 2 o'clock in the morning. Daytime radio shows puke out the same lame vocal trance tracks over and over again along with all of the popular hip hop and rap. I think the bottom line is NY radio stations just suck in general and everyone is sore about it. Go down to Miami and listen to Party 93.1 now thats a party station

You're right.

Over the past few years, real house music (and EDM for that matter) has been more and more scarce on the Island, and has been taking somewhat of a backseat to hip-hop.

MattM2o, the individual who posted earlier on this thread about the various house music shows he used to host on 105.3, has been working with others, including DJ Rob James, to revive an underground venue right here on Long Island. That Friday night party has been known as "Nation," and for the past few months, it was hosted in Commack, NY, at the corner of Commack Road & Jericho Turnpike. As of recently, the party has moved to Coda Lounge at 69 Wall Street in Huntington Village, NY.

Those of you who frequented Nation over the past few months know very well what kind of venue it is, and you also know the type of djs who've spun for the crowd - Rob James, Razor, Mike Macaluso & Peter Bailey, Johnny Vicious, Low End Specialists, Chris & Kai, Dj Boris, Dj Hurricane, Sheldon Romero, Anthony Nero, Eddie Baez, and Dj Merritt for the Asseteria roadshow. The few of you on this board who know me know that I'm not a member of the Nation staff, nor am I being paid to promote for the club. I am, however, a very strong supporter of parties that actually try to keep something special like this alive on the Island. I want something like this in my own backyard, and there's no fuckin reason why that can't be possible.

I hope to see all Nation heads at this party, since our Friday night spot is back, and I also expect to see all of you who've been dying for a night like this to return to the Island. Fuck all the cynical bullshit about how much L.I. sucks, and how there are no real house music parties on the Island - let's show our love for the one party that is trying to bring L.I. back to its EDM roots.

The party continues as of April 16th at Coda Lounge. Dj Boris will be kicking things off, and Rob James will be hopping on the one and two's around 4 a.m. Dress Code is loose, afterhours are in effect, and the music.......well, just come and listen for yourself. No shit talking needed, but you will not be dissapointed.

Hope to see many of you on the 16th.
