I honestly dont really care...New Yorkers always want to complain about something and they never want to realize just how lucky they really are...who cares?!? its not really affecting my life...and the trains are always crowded...if it brings more money into the city, more power to them....as for the 2012 olympics, thats a different story...i definitely do NOT think they should be held in the city...wayyy too many potential problems

It does affect your life, do you enjoy paying more and more money for MTA service that sucks? The MTA should of gotten the best price for the land, but instead pataki and bloombergs shills voted for this stupid stadium.

The last thing manhattan needs or people want is a stadium over there.

We have schools that are failing our children and police and Firefighters leaving the city for higher paying jobs on LI. Also we the citizens of NYC are paying for the rest of the stadium through taxes. Which keeps increasing by the day. We will be paying for this for years to come.

You actually think that money will actually get to the kids, police and firefighters?? Gimme a break! Police have been working without a contract for how long? 5 Years? No matter how much money the MTA got for the land, their service will always blow and they would pocket the money!

The stadium will create jobs....FACT

MSG, the Dolans and Cablevision want a monopoly over there and will stop at nothing to prevent any sports complex being developed.

So they have been working for 5 years without a contract and you think thats right? Its my tax money and i would rather it go to them not to a stadium where the only jobs will be where people make minimum wage seving beer and selling t shirts; some jobs

I'm glad you feel that is money well spent over our police, firefighters and children

First, stadiums don’t get built without huge public subsidies. Secondly, they don’t bring a lot of other business into cities. The Jets would foot only a fraction of the construction costs and the gains from their corporate subscribers won’t spill over into the neighborhood. After all, the Jets play only eight home games a year.

Since most New Yorkers who have looked at the stadium plans understood these painful truths, the city has now exorcised the term "stadium" from their vocabulary. They now call it a "multi-use facility" that would also serve the Jacob Javits Convention Center. The problem is it is not clear the Javits either needs or really wants a piece of a stadium whose goal posts have to be taken down, at considerable expense, after the last touchdown. A stadium is still a stadium.

Your post describes everything I was going to say. I totally agree, a lot of tax payers money is going into this stadium. I personally feel that there are a lot of things our money can be used for instead of a stadium, like money for public schools. Or paying our civil service employees the money they deserve. The only people who really want this stadium are the mayor, Governor and construction workers, because they are the only ones who will benefit.

Of course I don't think it's right, but if you think the taxpayer money is going to go to what you've mentioned above, I'll let you buy tickets to the new Twilo reopening. The taxpayer money will never, ever, ever, ever reach the common folk.

With the stadium, you also get the Super Bowl every few years, concerts, expanded convention space and Final Fours...lots of future revenue to be had...I don't understand why people get so "elitist" when it comes to having a sports team in Manhattan - it's better than having some damn drapes hang all over central park

Don't forget that Woody Johnson is contributing $800 million out of his own pocket to help foot the bill, so it's not like 100% of the burden is going to the taxpayers. But if y'all want the West Side to look like the graveyard that it looks like now...so be it I guess...I really hope it passes though

even with the stadium it is still going to be a graveyard.

Bloomberg wants to redo the city's zoning laws concerning sex shops that would force every porn shop and strip club in manhattan into the area where the stadium is being built. then add all the added car traffic to that.

now who would want to live over there or open up non-sex related businesses there?

btw: the "drapes" in central park contributed almost as much economic activity to NYC as the RNC

More bars and strip clubs in that area...I'm down!!! Seriously with the addition of bars and titty bars there, you don't think business would increase in that area?

Car traffic on the West Side? Does it really affect you? You can't find other ways around it? Lots of nitpicking going on...and a little bit of traffic 8 Sundays a year isn't THAT bad!
