May 13, 2005 -- The bouncers at the Sound Factory dance club were ordered to stop throwing drug dealers out of the club because it was hurting business, a former security guard claimed yesterday.

"We were instructed to slow down because we were pushing out too many people," said William Douglas.

"I was told we can't throw all the patrons out of the party because there would not be a party."

Douglas testified at the federal trial against Sound Factory owner Richard Grant and security aide Randell Rogiers. The defendants are charged with five counts of turning the cavernous Hell's Kitchen club into a drug den.

Douglas answered to Rogiers and director of security Ron Coffiel.

Douglas was employed by International Protective Services Agency. On the weekends, he and up to 25 of his employees provided security detail at the Sound Factory.

He said drug use was so prevalent that patrons blatantly asked bouncers if they sold drugs, or inquired about where they could get them.

Douglas said he regularly saw customers snorting drugs.

He said when people passed out or were unconscious from drug use, he and other bouncers were instructed not to call 911.

Instead, the sick patrons — some of whom overdosed — were sent to a small room where employees threw ice cubes down their back, pinched them or supplied them soda to sober them up, Douglas said.

Douglas complained that people he threw out of Sound Factory for drug dealing would be welcomed back in.

During direct questioning by Assistant Manhattan U.S. Attorney David Berardinelli, Douglas estimated 30 percent of customers — mostly the "regulars" — avoid strict searches when entering the club.

But during cross-examination, Douglas admitted Sound Factory maintained two logs containing the names of troublemakers who were tossed out of the club for drug use or other inappropriate behavior.

it makes me sick too see all this bullsh*t about clubs, and how bad the drug use is in the clubs...but in the meantime, all those cops, govt officers are snorting there brains out and drinking ounces of alcohol in there bodies, but its ok to come into a business and start ruining parties for people who just go out and want to have a good time and dance and listen to some music...if they wanna do drugs let them to do it, who really cares, its there choice not the gov't's......but all those prescription pills the gov't passes is ok to sell , but they dont know the side effects after years or months.....all you wanna be PRIEST COPS and DEA AGENTS, stop smuggling the drugs in the country and everything will be fine....bottom line....music is music and drugs are drugs, its all about MONEY...and to the DEA: start doing a RESEARCH on what you call those LEGAL PRESCRIPTION PILLS your doctor sells and then come after the other DRUGS you say is bad.....COCAINE was made by a scientist for people with asthma. Marijuana is a cure for everything, and MDMA is the cure for PANIC ATTACKS....they wanna do drugs, LET THEM DO IT! all you COPS n DEA AGENTS make me sick, two faced pieces of shit....

OK factory held 3000 people or so and maybe they had some drug issues but has anyone been to a huge rock concert with over 50,000 fans or a phish festival with 80,000+ fans.. The cops don't get too crazy about 50,000 people at a bon jovi concert or kiss concert snappin lines off the back of there hands because they like the music.. most cops if not all cops hate electronic music and think its evil.

they just descriminate against the scene and the fact that it happens at 5 am instead of at 7pm before a concert get all loaded up for 2 hours and then leave and hop on the highway.. at a club you get bent then you deal with it for the next 5 to 10 hours and then go home somewhat sober.... alot of people even cab it in to the clubs in the city

Why do other ppl get so upset at ppl just going out and having fun? I mean, I can understand if they were hurting someone else with their actions, but theyre only hurting themselves...blah, ive gone over this like thirty times, and none of it would hold up legally anyways, so whats the point..
