Muhammad Ali

Few Americans with so much to lose have risked as much as Ali did. His status as heavyweight champion of the world didn't stop him from being a voice for civil rights, a staunch protestor of the Vietnam War and a spokesperson for the Nation of Islam. And he was a brilliant boxer who brought new life into the sport when it desperately needed it. His remarkable strength of character inspired a generation and changed notions of what impact an athlete could have on society.

Why is he a hero for dodging the draft? I guess he was conveniently Muslim depending on the situation.

Actually he brought Malcom X and a bunch of other Muslims to his 1st fight againt Liston in 64 and the next day after he won the title he announced that he changed his name to Cassius X... which was later changed to M.A.

The title was stripped in 67.

So no, he wasnt conveniently anything.
