philippio Posted July 31 Report Share Posted July 31 Last night, for me, was more about seeing and hanging out with friends (some of whom I hadn't seen in a while). I only caught a short bit of Vaughan's set and it was quite good. I'm still waiting on a couple of track ID's. He kept things on the funky tip without getting too soulful or trying to steal anyone's spotlight. I would have to say that Jason played the best set last night (better than Jon Cutler). Jason kept it upbeat and funky in all the right places. Sheldon's set was a perfect skegway into the night's headliner. Of all the Lust guys, he's reputed for playing the most soulful and I, for one, have never been disappointed. I was, however, expecting Jon to play better. He played some very nice records (CD's actually), like Blaze's 'My Beat', Shawn Escoffery's 'Days Like This', Fatboy Slim's 'Star 69', his very own 'You Groove Me' and others but nothing really brand spanking new. I think he's a dj/producer that I shall always appreciate more for his producing talent. Like I mentioned, last night was more about the people. It was a wonderful celebration to honor numerous occasions: the newlyweds, Nicole & Vaughan, Raffiah (I hope I spelled it properly) and Sheldon's engagement, and funketeer's birthday (although I have no idea where he disappeared to). One thing I really have to appreciate is that on so many occasions, Joe Budious has attended Lust events and the Lust boys honor Aquabooty efforts by going to their parties at Nocturnal. I guess when both groups have been so deeply entrenched in Miami's house scene for so long, camaraderie comes naturally. It was great to see so many familiar faces and to share the precious moments that our very dear Lust friends were celebrating last night. I have never seen BLUE so packed (outside of WMC).Stay tuned everyone... Lust4House has got some great things in store for this year!!! I have never seen Nicole or Vaughan this happy. I felt so honored to be a part of this celebration which, in essence, marks the beginning of their long life together.
