lalate
A couple things to mention (one I'll leave tll after the holiday). But this one is important .....When visiting to vegas this weekend, when you check in, if you have something expensive in your bag, dont give it to the porter to bring up to your room, bring it yourself. Police told one of my good friend's closest friend this week that theft of suitcases from Porters in hotels does occur and is not out of the ordinary. In this case, the girl checked into one of Vegas #1 hotels, gave the suitcase to the porter with the other luggage, got her ticket, went to the room. Went the porter arrived (different porter, as is customary), one suitcase was gone. Inside that suitcase, an item of great sentimental and monetary value. Laptops, jewelry, ids, etc - be sensible. Carry it to your room.

Capo
Good advice. If anything, use a lock on the luggage once you are in Vegas. Also, make sure your hotel room door shuts all the way and is secure. When I worked at Caesar's a few years ago there was a rash of burglaries...criminals would comb the hallways at night 'pushing doors in'. If one wasn't secure, they would sneak in and steal while the patron was sleeping.
