I was there 2 weeks ago ..

I've been living in nyc area my whole life and I'm sick of it

I really enjoyed Malibu . La is beautiful. The weather is good and people look healthier . Never seen so many people drive Bentley's all at once on Rodeo drive. And ladies in Beverly Hills look so money !!

And people were friendlier it seemed ..but (they could've just been nicer to me becuz I obvisouly looked out of town )

So tell me some good /bad about LA

weather's great, traffic sucks

there are some really good people here, but it can take some time to find them.

the music scene is decent.

housing prices used to be really good, now they are kind of sucky.

there's lots to do, but the 2am bar closing time can be a drag.

come on out, we'd be happy to have you.

.

all clubs close at 2 am ??

I know housing is quite expensive esp around the nicer parts

Another tacky thing I did ..I kept going up to people I recognized and said " Omg ! I saw you on tv !! " lol

I gotta stop that . I did it to staff at JONATHAN'S and Ivan Kane ....lol

Everyone was like ' yea whatever'

well there are clubs, mostly in hollywood, that stay open until 3 or 4, but most bars and smaller venues close at 2.

yeah there are lots of jaded people here. the celeb thing can be interesting or even a bit exciting when you are new to it. after a while you get used to it. it can be annoying sometimes, but it's part of the economy and lots of people depend on the entertainment business for their employment, like me.

The good: The people here are awesome

The bad: They are damn hard to find

The ugly: The cool people are hidden by the most shallow, annoying people you have ever met that only moved here to try and be famous. thankfully most of those people leave after about 8 months.

The good: Everything you could want is here in spades.

The bad: Since this city is designed like a bunch of suburbs that had cancer and threw up on each other, everything is so far away from everthing else. I can go out to the club and meet cool people only to find out they live in playa del ray and I am in dowtown. I will never see those people again.

The ugly: Traffic F'ing sucks and it takes even longer to get to places.

LA would be the best city in the world hands down if it had a more traditional design with a dowtown and suburb type design. Although it might be because of this wierd design that it is so cool.

Alas, LA will always be second in heart to London. But a close second!

PROS

the weather is great.

It is beautiful here

better community, better system for the people

people are more laid back

healthier lifestyle

beaches :)

Better produce

Medical marijuana

Much more employment for people outside finance

Tons of creative gigs in entertainment and related fields

wearing flip flops everyday

4 hours to vegas, 5 to san fran, 5 to phoenix

CONS

the traffic is horrible

the people are not as straight forward & a bit phony because of that

the city is spread out which kind of sucks IMO

public transportation is a joke

bars close early

harder to go out and party b/c you have to worry about driving

Lacking culture and history

Living in the wrong area (like the valley/downtown vs. beverly hills/hollywood)

no holiday spirit

too many hacedics

car insurance is very expensive & you have to have a car to get anywhere

a 5 mile drive to work can take an hour (traffic again)

cant find a good sandwich ANYWHERE

farther from europe

so good to see you, somebitch :D !!! we are having a meetup in the next few weeks and i hope to see you there and find out how things have been for you out here.

but a lot of the things that people say are lacking here aren't; they're just spread out, like the city itself. through the years that i've lived here and said that i couldn't find this or that, i've been slowly crossing things off my list. it took me years to find the thick, doughy chinese dumplings i was looking for, but i found them. they happen to be 50 minutes away from where i last lived, that's all. and somebitch, it took me till this year to find an amazing club sandwich, but i did, and in a very unlikely place: a mall in santa ana. i will admit, though, that it blows to have to travel far and wide to find all of your favorite things - or, even just your favorite foods.
