wallflour
Has anyone else been watching?I've been enjoying the games. How shocked are you by USA losing to Canada?I'm sure interest has increased at least somewhat because of it, but it will probably go down if USA somehow doesn't advance

wallflour
maybe taking a bit of drama out of it, but Mexico keeps USA alive by scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning against CanadaA 1-0, 2-0, or 2-1 win by Mexico would've eliminated USA tonightA win by Canada would've allowed USA to lose to South Africa (but they'd have to give up fewer than 6 runs), but it's looking like it's all Mexico here, so USA will have to win. nomembername
oh man...watching Japan vs USA right now...can't believe they over turned that call saying the runner left 3rd to early...game should be over right now. USA doesn't deserve to win this game
nomembername
A-Rod just won it for USA...is it bad that I'm actually upset that they won? Like I was kind of rooting for the underdog. That and the call was horrible...I feel bad for Japan
wallflour
it was quite a good game, so it's unfortunate that there was that controversy
clubber5524
it was quite a good game, so it's unfortunate that there was that controversy2 runs would have scored on a-rods single anyway....so the way i see it that play was a non-factor. nomembername
2 runs would have scored on a-rods single anyway....so the way i see it that play was a non-factor.you're kidding right? it's a completely different ball game if that run counts...you can't look at it that way"non-factor"
barraquilla
Japan vs. U.S. was a good game except for the reversed call - couldn't see anything from where I was, but people (even near me) swore the dude left early and it was a good call. Imo, the call did make a difference, because if he had been safe, its 4-3 with 2 out and 2 on, Japan def. knows how to extend an inning...that call basically demoralized their team. And unfortunately got the crowd all "usa" over it, definitely was an ugly way to win a game, home country & officiating advantage ruled over right, in this case.Other than those events, it was an honor to actually see the amazing Sadaharu Oh in person (from afar), and see A-Rod come through to win the game. 9mile
Very hard to advance with a loss.First tiebraker is run differential, then they look at ERA's, teams with least runs and earned runs allowed advances if they are tied in the standings. wallflour
Dominican Republic is the first team to move into the final four, with a 2-1 win over Venezuela, holding them to 1 hitJapan beats Mexico 6-1, which doesn't help the cause for the USAFor USA to advance, they'll need to beat Mexico, and a win by Korea over Japan

JonStephen
If Japan beats South Korea USA is outIf Japan Loses, and USA beats Mexico we are inagain, not starting drama just going of what you said.....what is shown is having an all star team means nothing without chemistrythink about this for a sec, DR was in trouble before tonight's win and USA is almost out. hence why teams assembled of high priced free agents and all stars are having trouble winning it all

vicman
its also a very short tournament and anything can happen on any given day. on any given day the devil rays can beat the yankees, but at the end of the season, they end up 50 games behind.
