IZ & DIZ

Joshua Michaels (Iz) and Dwayne Washington (Diz) met in Chicago almost thirteen years ago and have been friends ever since. They both had their nicknames before meeting each other, so it was a natural progression to start working together as Iz and Diz.

When Joshua moved to Chicago in 1994, Iz and Diz began making music together, recording their first track at the legendary KMS studios in Detroit for the Prescription Records offshoot Balance. Now out of print, this was to be a first in a series of well received singles for a variety of respected labels including Silver Network, Classic, Seasons Recordings, Tweekin Records, and Aesoteric Records.

Their first single for Classic, "Wiggle While We Work" featured the seminal track "Mouth" which was comprised entirely of vocal snippets from the dynamic duo. A remix EP of "Mouth" (also on Classic) presented new interpretations by Pépé Bradock and Greens Keepers and brought international recognition to Iz and Diz's production. The track was featured on Radio 1 in London and licensed by worldwide heavyweights such as Giles Peterson among many others.

Not limiting themselves to peak time house cuts, the team produces a wide range of music for a myriad of times and places. From chilled-out midtempo cuts, to driving disco tinged floor fillers, Iz and Diz have garnered respect from DJ's around the world, with support from Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Kenny Hawkes, Luke Solomon, DJ Heather, J.T. Donaldson, Lance DeSardi, DJ Sneak and many more.

Now that I am thinking about it.... Lets throw Justin Martin in there too!

Justin Martin

Justin Martin is one of the few house DJs that successfully bridges the gap between being commercially successful and staying true to the underground. His sound has been described as both melodic and tough, with releases ranging from the dynamic & smooth “Brazilian” on Utensil to the boomtpy “Cats & Dogs” on Classic.

Justin first gained international acclaim for his single, “The Sad Piano,” on Ben Watt's Buzzin'fly label. The single made its way into many A-List DJ crates as well as receiving many accolades from critics. He considers himself lucky to be making music and is always a humble, but rocking presence on the dance floor. With a really strong Freshman year behind him, Justin was rewarded with a nomination as "Best Breakthrough DJ" by the 2004 International House Music Awards. Look out for an amazing 2005 as Justin will be featured as “The Next Big Thing” in the March 2005 issue of XLR8R magazine. He and his production partner, Sammy D have also been honored in the “URB next 100.” Thanks to his phenomenal mixing talent and precise ear for what moves a crowd, Justin has established himself as the next generation of San Francisco house with the skills to hang with the current Masters. Keep your ears open for Justin's new singles coming out this spring on dirtybird and Buzzin'fly records.

4 Years and Bumpin!!!
