actually the topic is more about Mets vs Yankees now thanks to you and GoatMilk but I found it very humorous how you could bring up our pitching staff

Nah, the general topic is still the Mets large lead and how complacency may or may not set in like other teams in the past. If you want to discuss the Yankees problems, I'll be more than happy to talk about that also...

i didnt start the thread first of all, second of all u might have tied us in the series but we outscored the mets by i think its was like 8 runs or something like that. you would have to be a fuckin retard to rather be .5 games back that 11.5 in front, so gotmilk is right in that regard. (for once) and finally a mets fan admits that the NL is weak, bout fuckin time. we can argue all we want now, bottom line is we have 60 games to still play

wow clubber that was a very motivational post right there...i just stood up and started clapping (one of those start off slow claps that goes quicker and louder like in the movie Hoosiers)

and bxbomb I don't think vegas has lines for a team making the playoffs at this point in the season so I couldn't tell you :)

you outscored us by 5 runs all together.. yet the cleveland indians outscored you by 7 runs (point is runs dont mean much if you lose the game)

basically, you don't have faith in the Yankees making the playoffs this year...understandable.

i have all the faith i can that they will...i know they will...but when it comes to betting im smarter than that...i dont bet on full seasons...i bet in the here and now...

I'd say the Mets have a better chance at making it to the WS rather then the Yankees making the playoffs...winning it is a different story

Odds Indicate the Yankees Will Miss the Playoffs

PinnacleSports.com Lists Yankees as Postseason Underdogs at Midway Point

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Now that the All-Star game

has passed and the second half of the Major League Baseball season gets

underway this weekend, the playoff push will begin as the contenders try to

separate themselves from the pretenders in the next three months. Injuries

to star players, an aging pitching staff and several other American League

clubs enjoying terrific seasons have many believing this will be the first

season the New York Yankees miss the playoffs under Joe Torre. After

originally opening as favorites in April to make the postseason for a

twelfth straight season, PinnacleSports.com now lists the Yankees as

underdogs to make the 2006 MLB playoffs.

The largest sports betting site on the Internet, PinnacleSports.com

opened wagering with the New York Yankees as a 5/8 favorite to be

playoff-bound again this season. Within less than two weeks, bettors

flocked to the site backing another Yankees postseason appearance, which

moved the odds to an overwhelming 2/9 favorite. With injuries to Hideki

Matsui and Gary Sheffield, combined with excellent play by Boston, Detroit

and Chicago, belief in the Yankees making the playoffs for a twelfth

straight season has waned, and now PinnacleSports.com lists New York as a

5/4 underdog to be playing in October. Meanwhile, the sportsbook now lists

the chances Steinbrenner's Yanks will miss the playoffs as a 5/7 favorite.

"Early in the season, the Yankees looked like virtual locks for the

playoffs, but mounting injuries, unproven players logging significant time,

a lack of quality pitching and immense competition for postseason berths in

the AL have taken their toll and could bring an end to the team's

postseason streak," said Simon Noble of PinnacleSports.com. "Coming off the

All-Star break, the Yankees find themselves six games behind Chicago in the

wild card race, while trailing Boston by three games in the AL East. Unless

they can make some deadline deals, the Yankees will be honing their golf

games come October."

Further demonstrating bettors' lack of belief in this year's Yankees

squad, PinnacleSports.com now lists the team at 11/1 to win the World

Series after originally opening as 4/1 favorites to win their 27th

championship.

of course the mets have the best chance of making it the ws out of anyone, they pretty much have a free ride in the pathetic league.

the mariners were 13 - 2 (or something like that against the nl) that speaks volumes

i have no doubt the mets will make the playoffs and most likely the world series...the nl is weak and the mets do own the whole conference...they will get the shit kicked out of them by who ever makes it for the al...of course i believe it to be the yanks but we will see...

if mets get Zito now (which they should make every effort to as they are a must win now team )and Pedro and galvine stay healthy they could then compete with any team in the AL inthe W.S as you would have 3 legit starters then
