cool1g Posted December 7 Report Share Posted December 7 they've been selling units for a year now for the San Diego Hard Rock - its a condo hotel under construction with 2007 occupancy. I looked into buying one - pretty nice - priced in the $400s to start...i don't believe the SD Hard Rock has anything to do with the sale just announced.the Rank Organization bought the rights to all Hard Rocks east of the Mississippi back in the 90s and i believe Harry Morton or the other founder (Tigretti or something like that) got to develop/keep those west of the Mississippi. vegasguy25 Posted December 7 Report Share Posted December 7 Greg, Peter Morton is the founder, and Harry is his son and I believe a part owner of the Nine Group. Peter owned the Hard Rock here in Vegas outright, and that casino, as well as rights to the name west of the Mississippi (I believe excluding those on Indian reservations) are what were included in the sale to Morgans earlier this year. It's amazing that the sale of the Las Vegas property, including the apartment complex adjacent to the hotel, to Morgans was almost equal in price to the sale of almost the entire company to the Seminoles.
