its just different, if you have been frequenting factory for a while you would know what i am talking about.

i have to disagree about the length of the sets being a factor in judgment. I think JP is producing some sick shit lately, but in relation to his spinning, everyone praises his mixing skills which i don't think are THAT great. I'm not trying to say he's terrible by any means cuz he's obviously skilled holding down a residency at maybe the hottest club in the city. But his 15 hour marathon sets don't impress me as much as they used to. Maybe comparing him to s&d he has one up on them cuz of the length of his sets but by no means in the programming of his sets. I mean they take you on a journey b/c they are so technically sound in there sets.

And to bring up another twilo dj, PvD's sets impress me so much more then jp. Considering he won't spin one song for a damn half hour like jp. That makes his 15 hour sets much less impressive to me then van dyk who spun for 8 hours last time at twilo by himself and really went through a ton of tracks.

And to everyone who talks about the "fluffy trance" , have you checked out pvd lately? Definetly not 8 hours of "fluffy trance". Don't get me wrong, he definetly played his share of them, along with plenty of progressive stuff, and a lot of breakbeat stuff as well. I heard a little of everything that nite, oh except for the 45 minute whitney remix

First.. No one is praising his mixing abilities.. I'll be the first to admit his mixes aint all that.. Sasha by far is the best mixer I have ever heard.. Jonathan has the skills it takes to hold down the Sound Factory every singles saturday night, since the freakin club re-opened.. I have never heard anyone work effects like him.. Sure he abuses them sometimes, but he is by far the best.. He knows exactly what he's doing in the dj booth.. His track selection can be amazing at times.. Too bad he's another moody dj like Vasquez..

Second.. You cant be compairing Jonathan to Sasha or Paul Van Dyk.. Jonathan has NOT been playing for as many years as them.. He has only been big for maybe 3 years.. Give it time, you will see..

Third.. Playing tracks for a long period of time is his OWN thing.. No one else does that ( except the wanna be JP djs ).. I'm sure if he wasnt getting any good responces from the crowd over the last 3 years, he wouldnt be doing it..

Fourth.. As for Fluffy trance, blah.. It's nice to listen to when you fuck your woman friend after being out all night, and for long drives in the car.. Even early or late in the night, it's cool.. Not at 4-5am.. But thats just MHO..

Fifth.. Everyone needs to stop trying to compair Jonathan Peters to the cast of djs Twilo recives every friday night.. Those djs have many years under their belt, while in the spot light.. Totally different styles of music, that can NOT be compaired..

bro your just as thickheaded as everyone else b/c you took my post totally the wrong way. I was responding to the comment on duration of sets as a factor in judging each particular dj. I was never trying to compare there styles, only skills. And i know the twilo dj's have been around a lot longer then jp. He's doing his thing and is doing quite well as a matter a fact. All i was saying is that IMO he's a much better producer then dj.

Playing tracks for such a long time is not my cup of tea. I don't enjoy it at all and would much rather here a very diverse array of tracks which is what van dyk does for me. I know a lot of people enjoy this original aspect of his style otherwise factory wouldn't be packed out every weekend, but like i said, not my thing.

Fluffy trance... another point i was trying to make about pvd in particular was that he's not all fluffy trance nowadays, at least his twilo sets aren't. He's mixing an eclectic selection of tracks- just a point i wanted to make to all those on the board that talk about him as if he has nothing in his record crates except this genre-

I was never trying to compare their styles of music cuz that's pointless. I was just making a point about mixing skills and lengths of sets. To me, pvd spinning 8 hours and only playing his tracks for 4 or 5 minutes at most, is much more impressive then jp throwing down a bunch of 45 minutes loops and spinning for 16 hours. I mean, in all seriousness, the crowd at factory is not as musically knowledgable as that of twilo, so a lot of times even when jp is really off, people are too fucked up too even realize.

oh- and i sometimes wonder, do you think jp will ever leave factory? I mean, i'm not trying to start rumors or beleive what other people other starting cuz i know he would never leave factory to spin somewhere else. i definetly agree about dj's constantly getting bashed. They're out there trying to do what it is they do best and thats spin records. I was never trying to bash jp at all, cuz like i said he's obviously doing amazing for himself. Not enough people on this board who konw how to have discussions while still respecting someone else's opinion. We should be able to agree to disagree.

JP leaving factory... it was just a thought that popped into my head when i realized how well he's been doing producign and the amount of loot he pulls in w/ each mix. If vicious hadn't taken the tunnel residency he woulda been my first example since he just concentrated on the producing and hex too. It would probably mean a lot more money. Maybe a few years down the line when he feels like settling down??? Unless he turns out to be like vasquez or something i guess.

JP is great when he is on. But I forgot when was the last time he was on. He was on in Florida at Space. He was wicked then. I went to SF number of times after that and he was never that good again. One time he played same shit all night long - like he put a CD on and let it go in a loop. That was a total disrespect to all the party people in the place. I left as soon as I realized that. When JP is not on - he just SUKS BIG TIME. (unless you k-ed up to your ears - but that is not my high).
