The Worst Humanitarian Situation in the World Today. Arabs Kill Over 50,000

Anyone paying attention to this atrotious situation in Sudan? It is disgusting...

nutshell:

Northern Africa is mainly Arab- think Morocco and Syria, etc. There are, of course, black Africans residing there as well, more to the south of the countries. There is mainly arid desert land, and most of these people (black and arab) survive by farming and selling cattle...so the resources are scarce, and the arabs dont appreciate blacks taking advantage of some of these resources in "their" land; the Arab government in Sudan has hired vicious Arab militias to go on a rampage of ethnic cleansing- it's sickening...millions are now displaced refugees, most of the women have been raped, villages destroyed, and over 50,000 have been killed already-

To get an idea of that kind of death, imagine experiencing September 11th...Seventeen Times over. Now imagine that in an African desert without any aid or medicine or hospitals or stable government.

Check out this link for a pretty good recap of what has been going on- you can navigate through CNN.com for tons of information. It's important to be aware - so many people dont even know that this is going on-

Oh yeah this shit is out of hand. And what kills me is that no one in the international community doesn't really seem to want to place any urgency with regard to this situation. The death toll is probably more than 50K I heard it was approaching 1 quarter of a million people already and yet the UN nor the US does nothing..... Why? Becuz Sudan is a poor and resourceless country and those who run the western world could give a crap what happens to Africa and it's people unfortunatley. Africa is fast becoming the forgotten part of the world.

Not that I'm saying to jump in and save these people...but if there ever were a reason for there to be a coalition to help "save" a people from an evil government (one of our MAIN pretenses for going to war with Iraq) then this would seem much more relevant of an issue.

WE ARE DEALING WITH OUR OWN PROBLEMS

Actually Saleen, we took it upon ourselves to make Islamic militants and 'governments who harbor them' our enemy. You were all for it when it was Iraq we were talking about. "You're either with us or against us" That was the story to get us to support killing all of those civilians and seizing those Iraqi oil fields for Halliburton.

There is nothing valuable in Sudan, end of story. Remember this issue the next time Bush and his puppets start talking about 'liberating' the good people of Iraq from that terrible dictator.

Exactly. But what I'm saying is that the UN is just sitting around doing nothing while people are being slaughtered all over Sudan. It's easy for someone (Saleen) who's sitting in the comforts of US freedom behind your computer at home to say "Why us who cares etc..." Maybe we should throw you in the middle of the crisis, while your family and friends are being slaughtered and displaced all around you and after that, lets see what you have to say!!!! But you probably wouldn't get that chance becuz these brutal militants would probably cut your tounge from your throat first!!!

We just flat-out expected people all over the world to cry and feel sorry for us and pray for us on 9/11. People should feel sorry for us right?

Since then we ourselves have killed 12,000 of another country's civilians out of the same kind of bizarre "us versus them" mentality that Al Qaeda used to rationalize killing some of us. We refuse to apologize or even acknowledge the dead civiilians in Iraq. Now we're sitting around watching as Islamic militants kill 50,000 civilians. The guys who were most on board to bring the fight to the Islamists are now going "Hey, don't look at us, not our problem, nothing valuable in that country. We can't afford to help."

Biggest fucking hypocrites on the planet. Sorry but we are and it sickens me. And we run around wondering why everybody in every corner of the world hates us now. It would almost be funny if it weren't for the tens of thousands of people who had to die to illustrate our hypocrisy.

at this point you are clearly being a web sociopath trying to stir up attention/controversy- you're obviously wrong- so let's move on to discuss the issue and ignore what he said here-

I disagree. The sad fact is that Saleen's thinking really is representative of a huge slice of our country.

Okay, so to recap: every single one of the rationalizations that the Bush Administration has fed us about why we are in Iraq has turned out to be bullshit. The Sudan crisis is the final nail in the coffin. We aren't in Iraq on a humanitarian mission. Sudan makes that painfully obvious. Why are we there? Why did all of those people die? Why do people like Saleen not care at all that we have zero justification for being there? Do they really think that they can talk out of one side of their mouth about 'liberating' Iraq while simultaneously telling us that Islamist militants in an oil-barren country are not our problem without anybody noticing the hypocrisy?

All of that bullshit about how Saddam had to go because he was so evil that he killed those 5,000 Kurds ten years ago, 'his own people'. That was supposed to motivate us to send our youth to die in the desert, but we're supposed to just shrug and sit back and watch while preventable genocide is actually happening somewhere else right now.

And Saleen, you gloated when O'Reilley tried to corner Moore about the Nazis. O'Reilley took it as plainly obvious that the US had an obligation to step in to put a halt to genocide in WWII. You agreed. Is your flip-flop on this issue because the Darfurians are black or is it because there is nothing to steal in Sudan?

Yeah, but these militants aren't a direct threat to the United States. There are much bigger problems facing us to get involved with something that would detract attention from where it needs to be.

That didn't stop us from invading Iraq.

Exactly. I don't even think Sadamm killed as many people that are dying in Sudan.. The UN's and the US policies just don't add up sometimes when it comes to governments commiting atrocities around the world...

Well, that could be a whole another debate. You can argue that Iraq wan't a threat to us TODAY, but if you honestly think that at some point Sadam wouldn't have done whatever he could to inflict harm on us.....wheather it be directly or through a terrorist group, you're crazy.

funny thing is the world did feel bad for us !, but Bush took care of that !
