Bling's Review of Loft Magazine Party@Amika & Space Afterhours

What reasons do people go out to nightclubs on weekends? Some say they go to hang with good friends, or for the music, or the ambience. I say I go for all of the above. I see myself as of late, going out more and more, longer and longer... Not only to support my friends spin but to just have a great time.

Tonite thanks to an invite from Ikkin (Nikki) I was invited to the Loft Magazine Party @ Amika. IT was a first time for me not only going to Amika but also hearing Shawn Rudnik behind the decks.

I arrived at Amika around 930 pm. After meeting up with Macboy who gave me an extra RSVP (just to be sure i have no problems getting in). The door was slammed with people. They were a bit selective as to who was going into this affair but the front door was stil very well organized and moved quickly. Obviously, the very hot girls were being let in first followed by everyone else. Luckily for me though I got in a bit quicker thanks to Nikki who appeared at the door and wisked me inside.

As i entered i was floored, the place was simply gorgeous. Gleaming hardwood floors, 3 bars one in the center front and two on the sides. Up above, bluish green lights were hanging over providing a bit of sexy ambience. The dj booth situated in the back of the club with a video screen up above. Also scattered througout, were copies of the current issue of LOFT Magazine ..... which i scanned over at the end of the evening when I just couldnt dance anymore......

The place was slammed packed. Gorgeous women everywhere!! Everyone was dressed up very chic and definitly dressed to impress.

The Amika dancers actually were dancing in the upstairs hip hop room before it opened. You could see their silhoutte shadows dancing from the main room. Excellent touch.

They also had a fashion show showing a new line of clothes. Very nice stuff

At this point I bump into Pod as well as Eddy who introduced me to his brother and club owner Tony. Thanks for the great hospitality Eddy all nite long Also at this point I bumped into Shawn Rudnik who hooked me up with a cd (cant wait to hear it).

Lots of board support for this nite. Great hanging with Patois from CP(Becky) all nite long. Also great to see, Miriam, Ramon, Liz, Beatfriek(omg ur alive!!!), Macboy, DJ Bruno, Biz, Saleen, Carisa, Leo(for like 2 seconds LOL ), NickJunkie and Sarah, and BCNJunkie(jorge).

Shawn's set blew me away. The night was accompanied by an excellent drummer slamming away as Shawn was dropping some nasty tribal and latin house all nite long. (oh and a little rock with ..... "fight for ur right to party" )

I was told by eddy that the percussionist was nominated for a latin grammy a while back. I am not suprised. The few times I have seen a drummer backing up a dj set they have not been as on point as this guy was. Awesome job.

At some points I was dancing so hard i had chest pain LOL.. Thank God Amika has ample seating so I was able to plop down in the corner next to ramon and miriam for a bit ...

This party was simply amazing what can be said. Except I plan to make this my normal fri nite hangout from here on out. OH did I say the women were gorgeous!!!! WOW.... LOL

Thanks again to Eddie, Nikki and Shawn for treating me so well all nite long.

Space AFterhours

Around 3:30 i left Amika and headed out to Space. Meet up with Andrew outside and we head on in . The second i walked in i was a bit surprised to see the decor. The club was a bit more loungy they had couches in the center and plants around it a bit like Nerve.

Coolest Part of the nite: I am standing at the bar with Andrew when Luis comes up to us.. I have never spoken to Luis before, and he comes up to me and buys myself and Andrew a drink.... Very cool. much appreciated Luis

At Space bump into DjTekwrek, Diaga, (thanks for the cd..... heh my drink ticket for a cd. not a bad trade Carisa and eddy.

Also great to see ARdis who was exhausted after her Party 931 broadcast at Voodoo. (congrats cant wait to hear ur broadcast from Giorgios on Wed at 10 pm .... sorry bit of a plug there )

So I head into the booth and bump into Juan Mejia(his first time at Space and he was definitly impressed). Sitting there in the booth wiht Juan and Bruno was too funny. Juan was like "bruno u know this guy" then bruno says do you know this guy? and says my full name first and last. FINALLY SOMEONE DOESNT CALL ME BLING !! (not that I mind)......

Gabriel Fain was on the decks. He started off very slow and loungy. I was not really feeling the set until I pretty much was about to leave around 615 or so. IT was not bad by no means, but I was looking foward to Bruno's brand of nastiness tonite .... Maybe it was because i was so tired that I could not even move at this pont, I do not know.

Turnout was def better then last week. This party is def starting to pick up I will def come out and support this fri party as often as I can physically survive LOL ..

It was a great nite out on the town as always.. Amika was amazing and Space.. is well Space (thats always a good thing)

Great seeing everyone and hopefully see u guys at Blue tomororow

amika was out of fucking hand, so much so we need to stop talking about the place on here. it doesn't belong on any message board..

loft party was just too much fun.

i'll sum it up like this:

1. apparently DKNY is considered a "t shirt" but i had a little chat wtiht the door guy, showed him my guido fist pump, and we were in..

2. FIRE YOUR FUCKING BARTENDERS!!!!!!!! OMG, WORD IS TONY READS THIS BOARD, SO TONY I'M TELLING YOU, YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY, FIRE YOUR FUCKING BARTENDERS. PACKED OR NO PACKED, THE CHICK AT THE BACK BAR WAS TALKING TO HER FRIENDS AND NOT SERVING DRINKS. 20 MINS TO GET 2 SHOTS, 15 MINS TO GET 2 BEERS. AGAIN I HAD TO ASK A FRIEND OF THE OWNERS TO STEP IN. I'M NOT GOING TO TURN INTO A COLLEGE FRESMAN AND WAVE MY MONEY AROUND LIKE A FUCKING STUNAD. FIRE THEM OR AT LEAST HAVE A MANAGER WALK AROUND AND REGULATE. THE LESS DRINKS=LESS REVENUE..

3. Sean was really good, yet too much of the same. The same tired 20 house songs again and again and again. How many tracks were produced over the last 15 years? I'd say 200,000 house choons, and I hear the same ones ??? Sean, you had the room rocking, no doubt, and I understand it's not a music or dj driven party, but bro, time to dig into the crates a little more. Overall I give you A- for the night, you rocked the room, you just didn't rock me.. Diversify your sets.

And what is up with the shots happen napkins get thrown NJ shore trend happening in sobe??? you fockers are finally comming around... niceeeeeeeeeeee ;D

ok, time to stop talking about this place, I don't want you loses to ruin the party, this is soooooooo south beach 1997!!!!! For one night at one venue a week, the south beach I remember from my trip there in 1997 (were i spent too much at SL, so dade, I want a reembursment) is back!!!

very dressed up crowd, loved it, I was gonna break my jacket out but it was too hot, but maybe next time.

God dammit... Every week I'm more and more upset that I haven't been able to make it to this party. Work's been killing me lately with 10 hour days and shit, so Friday nights have been instant pass-out for me for the past few weeks. I know a lot of people don't like the nice dress code, but I personally do. There's times when I'll wear a nice pair of jeans, sure, but I've never gone clubbing in a t-shirt. Something just seems wrong about it to me. Nothing pisses me off more than when I'm at a club dressed nice, and I look around to see that I'm surrounded by douchebags in thrift shop t-shirts with matching 80s elbow sweatbands. Except maybe bartenders that don't serve drinks. Seen a few of those at crobar, thankfully there's like 11 bars throughout that place so if one bartender doesn't do their job, there's probably another bar within 50 feet of you. :)

*sigh* One day I'll make it out there...

I agree with everything you say here....EXCEPT SHAWN!!!!!! First, please spell his name right, stunad. :P Second...well we already chatted about this. SHAWN RAWKED IT PROPER!!! He started getting a little less mainstream around 2am...when all the novice party-goers were hammered enough not to notice the difference in music. ;)

Carisa, I saw you in that candycane dress I love so much. I was coming over to say hi, I turned around for a second, and you were gone. :(

Hope everyone had as great a time as we did.

Saleen, nice job on the guido fist-pumping display. Maybe that will be the new secret handshake to get into the ultra-chic clubs. :P

Bartenders were definitely slacking this time, even in the back bar.

Great to see all the CJers in the house.

nice to see evrybody, had a blast !!! shawn did a great job. He's hardly a rookie (far from it), he knew what he was throwing down and why, music was great. The remix of professional widow was great. Can't complaint about bartenders, got taken care of right away.

and for salteen: DKNY is garbage, let me give ya a lesson son:

* Canali layered over comme des garcons with fitted cut

* Hugo Boss (real Hugo Boss not the Boss jeans crap)

* shoes: Patrick Cox

* Ermenegildo Zegna

try these for some real fashion

Oh wait, it's futile, you have no taste !

that post is pretty lame dude. The guy at the door had no issue with my shirt, he used it as an excuse to keep 3 guys out of the club, especially for the magazine show. Once I told him who I was, he walked in then back out and let all 3 of us in.

My shirt while a dkny shirt, has a tiny tiny tiny dkny label on the sleeve, I'm not a huge label whore nor lame as in posting what exactly I was were wearing. People who post what they are wearing usually can't afford the clothes they are wearing. On top of that, the reason I mentioned it, is so the people in charge can read that the guy at the door took care of us.

You are not skilled in the art of the gudio mind tricks, you fail to read between the lines of my post.. Now, the mall is having a sale, go buy your labels, i'll be banging your girlfriend while you do. Chicks don't care about guys clothes. ;)

Thanks for the great review Daniel.

I'm really glad you had a great time.

Amika is definitely an unbelievable club. I really loved working with Tony and the staff in putting together this event - they are all an amazing group of people.

Overall the party turned out great and I thank all those who supported me and came.

This was undoubtably one of our best, if not best LOFT Party:)

Saleen I didn't see you!

ya know i looked for you, but I must be honest, I don't really remember what you look like. It's been a long time, since we met. There was a big group of us behind the booth, thats seems to be the cj spot..

BTW, thanks for the invite, the shadow dancers were really sweet.

when is the Loft Magazine Harry Choo Choo Romero party at Amika??

j/k, but hey it would kick ass!

glad I went.

1.) who is playing mind tricks ? I was being honest... stop being a drama queen

2.) I don't ever buy my clothes at malls

3.) The need to announce to the world that the guy at the door took care of you is LAME

4.) It's not the label, it's the look

5.) Chicks love guys that dress well.. I know, your woman wouldn't leave me alone, unfortunately for her I don't do sloppy seconds

6.) guido and style don't go well together in the same sentence. Muscle gay shirts are hardly a masculine fashion statement

7.) The clothes I buy I can certainly afford

8.) I didn't post the labels of what I was wearing, I was posting on manufacturers of well made good styled clothing that actually fits.
