Guest JMT
one thing i never understood: counting cards is not allowed, how does a casino recognize that someone is?i think they will suspect it if you keep winning on low percentage hits. and they will start keeping records. they are judge and jury, so if you get labelled you are history. tgibson
I read the book two weeks ago. Its called "Bringing Down The House" by Ben Mezrich.Fantastic! and a very quick read. It's an amazing book. Rumor has it the movie is coming out in 2005 with Kevin Spacey playing "Mickey" (the guy who organized the team). As for them telling people to leave/recognizing people, basically Vegas casinos reserve the right to tell anyone to leave and someone who wins a lot more than they lose (even if they're just a lucky person) will be asked to leave... Once you're in the black book at one casino it spreads like wildfire down the strip... You'd be amazed at how well they track what you've won'/lost/played with in a given night. The nest time you finish a 4-hour stretch at a table, ask the pit boss to estimate what you've played with - I bet he'll come pretty close to how much you've won...(BTW - Mezrich wrote another very cool book called "Ugly Americans" about some kids who got caught up in the Hedge Fund / Derivatives trading boom a few years back...another easy and fascinating read...) V. Barbarino
damm, the whole time i watched it, i was thinking, this would be a huge movie!!! just too smart and too good not to make into a moive. could i be as smart with the money as they were? i think i could if trained right and studied, by my weakness is gettting burned out and lack of playing discipline.
