So, I have a question for anyone that would know... Are there going to be events during the weekend before the conference actually starts (GG weekend)? I am coming down from DC for GG, and I have been a huge supporter of Ultra for a long time, but with this line up, I just can't miss it (I mean, any time you get a chance to see Sasha and Digs play together, how can you pass on that?).

Anyway, back to the point, I have heard that the guy who owns Space is backing this party this year rather than Ultra, so I am wondering if there will be good events during that weekend down there? I have been to Ultra 3 years running, and been to Space every year except last year, so I guess I am just trying to get a feel for what else will be going on, after parties, etc...

Can't wait to get down to Miami again. I love that city, although it is bad for my soul... thank God there aren't casinos down there, cause I don't think i would be able to leave...

I have to agree...I saw that and I laughed, how is someone who is from New York and just recently started playing Miami more often going to play the Local Talent Tent ???

I believe that both GG and Ultra will do very well. As a promoter who has booked most of the artists on both lineups I am fortunate enough to have backstage passes for both events.

However, GG promoters, I have already told this to my friends at Track...your street teams are lacking in Palm Beach County.

I see Ultra Flyers ALL over the place, I have also had them on my car IN DELRAY every weekend for the last month....I have yet to see any advertising in these parts short of your ads in New Times. While PBC is only a small part of the people who will attend, with a break even as high as it is, you cannot afford to lose an extra few hundred people wherever they may come from.

Ultra has very strong name recognition with the masses. Outside of the clubbing world, very few people in america have heard of Global gathering. They have heard of your artists, and I am sure the show will do well...however, I can't tell you enough...YOU CANNOT OVER PROMOTE.

If both shows do well the people win. I want to see that happen.

I have to agreewith your comment, this morning I was hearing 93 Rock and the announcers were advertising Global Gathering as a festival featuring NIN, Rob Zombie, Sevendust, ect. One of the announcers mentioned Global Gathering only one time and the time that he mentioned it was to make fun of the name. He said he never heard of the festival and mentioned the date.

Your right people dont know what Global Gathering is? And the people who are advertising the event on 93 Rock are advertising it as if it was Rock only Festival when actually they should mention to the public that other stages will be featured from different styles of the Electronic Genre.

I really think both events will do fine but to the masses GG is considered a Rock Festival.

pod, maybe i am mistaken, but when i was originially reading about this Global Gathering concept, i thought i read that you guys were gonna have some Hip-Hop in the line up too... am i just crazy and making that up in my head, or did you guys originally have plans to have some Hip-Hop there, or are there still plans to bring some to the show?

regardless, I am on my way, it looks like this show is going to be off the hook. I am very impressed that you were able to get the best of all of favorite genre's of EDM! ;D

ive heard the same as i listen 93 rock daily, but im sure most ppl will mostlikely go online to get some info on the event and eventually find out its edm as well...95% of people that listen to rock music like some type of edm...

personally im just going for that, the edm is cool n all n i might take a glimpse at it...but for me this is something different, ive been to clubs all my life n have heard most dj's out there or at least the ones i got my ass to go out to...this will be more variety in my book

This is true. On the rock music forums I've been tracking, the usual reaction has been "Wow, Nine Inch Nails/whatever band they like, plus I get to see my favorite DJs as well..."

so are we going to see any more big announcements for the GG line up, or is this pretty much set? I would definitely love to see Hybrid, Junkie XL, Satoshi Tomiie, Gabriel and Dresden, etc...

I do see the advantage of having fewer acts, so that those that are there can play longer (I hope S&D play for like 6 hours:) - but i just wondered if we were going to see any more talent grace this party...

Also, when should we see what Space and Crobar and the rest will be doing for that weekend? I have seen tons of stuff about the following week and weekend, but nothing over the GG weekend...

95% or rock fans listen to EDM too? not sure I agree with that. I bet that 75% of rock fans wouldnt know what EDM stands for (and Pod would prefer you not use the term EDM fyi, tell em pod!). I think that GG is def being billed as more of a "rock" act (never really considered NIN rock but whatever), look at their own fliers, the "rock" acts are listed more promenintly. which is fine, let GG bring a rock centered fest as a pre-show to the WMC madness, more power to em. I just feel bad for the quality musicians like deep dish and lawler who are going to get upstaged by "DJ" tommy lee. gotta say, so far ultra is bookin more artists I wanna see considering my main focus will be on the electronic music and not the "rock". maybe I'd be more into GG if I was a bigger rock fan. what about ritm and junkie XL? anyone know where they're gonna be around during wmc?

Hey buddy,

Listen, all the artists that we have booked were not dragooned into playing for our festival.

If someone wanted play for another party, so be it, that is the reality of the market economy we live in.

That’s really the sad thing about all this drama here, that certain people have forgotten that we live in the United States of America. Not the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics…

What I mean is that we live in a society which permits freedom of expression and association. If some artists want to play for us? Well, go for it! If they want to play for someone else? Well, that’s their prerogative.

You preach freedom, but yet it is a major issue when someone chooses to exercise it.

You got my PM and email, if you wanna talk about it further, I'm available.

Welcome to the United States of America.
