yeah that will never happen in my home...what idiots these anti smoking people are, whats next? no sex, no swearing, no eating fat ...?

the more you try to stop it, the more people'll do it, just like drugs and any stimulants, imo.

i hate smokers and each day they loose more of their "rights" to smoke, at some point with 7 buck packs and only being able to smoke in a few places, you'd think they would quit...

The chick I see got hypnotized and is smoke free and zero cravings, 2 months later... I don't date any chick who smokes..

I take the view of that if they want to, let 'em do it. Not my problem if they keel over and die. Population control.

Only time I take offense is in enclosed public places.

here in Connecticut you can't smoke while driving because it requires you to use your hands. This makes blunt rides quite difficult indeed.

I now work for the largest respiratory care, and medical equipment company in the country we seel to patients in the home. I market oxygen to people with emphysema and other lung diseases.

If you would see some of the patients I have seen with COPD at 45 years old, you would stop smoking. :-[

I look at smokers as job security and money in the bank

I don't really smoke anyways only when I am really drunk.Disagree with banning anyone from it though that's is just craziness for someone to come tell you what you can do in your home!!!

---That's just ridiculous!! What are they gonna do?? Send the smoke police door-to-door?? There is no way this could be enforced.

I think that's ridiculous...I don't smoke cigarettes and think that they're disgusting, but who can tell you what you can and can not do in your own home?? If it's your property, you should be able to do anything you like on it, short of killing someone. I do take offense to it if I'm eating at a restaraunt or bar and somoene is smoking nearby...it makes me totally lose my appetite. But if you're going to make it illegal to smoke in your own home, why not just make the product illegal??

Hold up for a just a sec people. First of all, I totally agree that it's absurd to let the government control what we do in our homes. However, that is not exactly what's going on in this case. This story sounded more to me like a parent using the "second hand smoke is bad for my kid" card in a custody battle. In that case, I don't blame them for trying. It never occurred to me until I read this article, but if I ever found myself in a custody dispute for my child and all other factors seemed equal (job, income, ability) between me and their mother I'd use the smoking card too if it was there.

The part about foster parents being restricted, well that might be going a little far but the part about it being used in custody battles makes sense to me.

"Still, she thinks this was not a matter for the courts because it was not proven that she posed a risk to her children's health"

Argue all you want... second hand smoke is harmful to anyone .

I already know the next argument... "Well what if she promises to only smoke outside away from the child?". Then you are agreeing it's ok in this case to regulate what someone does "in their own private home".
