Inner earplugs are really good for this. They are very protective from the sound and they dont cramp your style too much.Take it from an EMT they are your best bet for not having hearing loss, i do it every other party and it helps me tremendously. ;)

where can I get them?

Talk to your doctor, only a specialist can order them since they have to be fitted.

Make an appt. with an ENT doc.

seriously, any studies about dec levels with the windows down???

Yes, the DB levels in your car from the stereo are lower with windows down. DB is actually a measure of pressure. With the windows up, the pressure is not released as easily, ergo, more DB. Of course, windows down you all the wind and traffic noise, so it may be a wash.

Saw the Knight Rider one the other day. That was sweet.

I went to Pawn Shop this past saturday also - wasn't there 5 mins b4 I felt the need for my earplugs!!!

It was DAMN loud in there that night. I've been really paying attention to my hearing over the last year or two. Clubs need to realize that if they make all of their punters go deaf, they won't have any business!!! DJs need to realize this also! I've DJed with other DJs and had to leave the booth because the monitors were up too loud also!!

This past conference, a friend of mine had a kit with her that would measure the dB levels in the club and she had info sheets from a company - Etymotic Research - that will take a mould of your ear and build a custom ear plug for you - I think they specialize in earplugs for musicians. Their website is:

www.etymotic.com

I had a mould taken and should get my earplugs soon!!

We need to protect our ears, people!!!!! I don't know what I would do if I lost my hearing. That movie - It's All Gone, Pete Tong - could be where we are going, maybe a little extreme, but not improbable!!!

I posted this earlier and someone else mentioned this company also - Etymotic Research - www.etymotic.com .

I should be getting my custom set soon - will report back when I get to use them.

So we got DJ's that now wear ear plugs. Also, some clubbers wear plugs too. ??? Then how about we just turn the system volume DOWN as much as those plugs attenuate and forget about the plugs? Seriously though, why do the clubs have to have the volume so high? Last time i was at Space, the DJ was so loud, that the music sounded distorted. I pop in the earplugs and everythings gets clear. Clear, sharp highs, clear lows, and i could actually make out which track the DJ was playing. So the speakers were not overdriven or distorted, my ears were! :o People, this is fricking rediculous! Why not have clubs install simple level limiters between the mixer and the amps? Why not have a large db meter in the DJ's face that shows actual system level. How about taking away DJ's paycheck if he/she knowingly redlines that level? Are the club owners to stupid to understand what's happening, or just don't care?

dB won't necessarily kill, it's bad sound. You can push a system if it is properly EQed. Not to state the obvious for the umpteenth time, but avoiding places where they've put in the Bose Special will help your hearing enormously. Also, standing out of the line of fire will do too. Dancefloors are great, but belly up the bar every so often and get out of the line of fire.

WTF, i have to avoid sertain places, watch out for this/that.. I give those people my money, in exchange for a good time, and I have to worry about their system being halfassed? Shit, if they dont care about their patrons, why the hell go there?
